C100: Gimbal

That vest seems to be missing the second element of the arm - looks like it cannot smooth out your walking (which is not a constant speed forward) even if it can smooth down up down movement.

Is there another one you suggest, which isn't ridiculously expensive? I'm just using these to shoot weddings.

Define ‘ridiculously expensive’. Not being a smart@ss, but ‘expensive’ means very different things, depending on who you are talking to, when you entered this business, what market segment you serve, etc.

You say you’re shooting weddings, but that runs the gamut. There are people shooting on cheap consumer camcorders/DSLR’s up to high-end RED’s and the like charging $$$.

I picked up a Steadicam Steadimate S arm & vest last year to play around with my Ronin S for about $900 or so and I consider that very cheap(as I’m used to being around some systems that are north of $50K, just to get in the door). But you linked to a vest/arm system that is $190, so do you consider that cheap or at your upper end, price wise(expensive)?

Give a price range or at least an upper limit and maybe some people can help steer you in the right direction. I don’t think the system you linked to will do much for you besides just take the weight off your arms. It’s only $190, but no need to throw your money away, when you could put it towards something more useful to you.

And to what Morgan was saying, most systems have arms that have two segments and multiple joints, like this:

If it includes the gimbal, $900 isn't that bad. Here's a link to what I think is the same package you have. Correct? https://tiffen.com/products/steadicam-steadimate-s

And what do you think of it, and how happy are you with it?

It does not include the gimbal.

Overall I find these not to be the greatest .. I can operatoe more smoothly handholding (a gimbal) but for long shots like wedding or award ceremonies they may be a must.

Morgan is correct that it does not include the gimbal. And this particular one only works with the original Ronin-S and Zhiyun Crane 2. My overall impression with the system is that it is very good for “taking the weight” for long/extended takes like ‘walk ‘n talk’ type shots or other general things like that. But it limits you when it comes to big, dynamic type gimbal shots or even just little quick shots. If you mostly do quick shots that are only like a minute or two or less, it’s only going to slow you down and get in your way. But if you’re doing things that require you to hold the gimbal for tens of minutes at a time, an arm/vest rig will probably be very beneficial to you.
