GH6 timelapse power supply

One of the great features that the GH6 has (as well as the GH5 Mk2 and the S series) is that the camera can be powered through its USB-C port. I'm doing a day-long timelapse shoot of work being done in my yard, and I have the GH6 set up in a back corner where there is no power. Running an extension cord would be in the way of the work being done. It dawned on me that I have a car jump-starter battery that has a USB port on it, so I'm using it to provide external power to the GH6. All I need is the jump-start battery and a USB-A to USB-C cable. Here's what it looks like:

I use the recommended Anker PD supply. The battery needs to be in the camera for it to work and the USB C supply has to be enough to run camera and charge battery or the battery will run down and then the camera will stop. Hence the 9V 3 amp spec for the USB C PD supply.

FWIW, the setup I show in the photo worked fine. I ended the timelapse after 5,000 photos with the camera battery indicating full.

Yes that looks like a big battery so should have been able to provide enough power but sometimes things are not always what they seem to be. Glad it all work well for you.

Ive had a few timelapses going for some months.

Solar panel, Car batts. Solar controller.

What Ive learned is that one must not overdischarge your battery. So some circuit is needed to cut the power when the battery is lowered to a certain level.

With a car battery the good range may be..
14.5 fully charged
13 fine
12.2 low battery
12.1 permanent damage - wont ever recharge properly

So you see that at 12.19 you need cutout to happen.

I didnt konw that volts is proportianal to charge level.
