GH5 GH5S playback with monitor - how?

I can't find an answer for this anywhere. What is the secret trick to playing back video from the camera with a monitor in use? I used to know but I forgot.

I thought about writing this because that is how it is in dozens of hybrid cameras and on the playback screen when you have the icons/info up they show the arrows and what they do when pressed in that direction, but I thought you couldn't have been asking this. lol

That's true, that does happen...I would usually then unplug the cable or send overlays to the monitor so it treats it the same way as the LCD and you can bring up the info there.

Problem is, the screen is blank when you go into playback mode and there's a monitor plugged in.

The same problems exist with the Sony A7 series. For playback over LiveU units back to the network, I use the monitor's loop-thru. I just program the menu overlay on the HDMI output, cue up my playback from the menu now that's now on the monitor, hit the up direction on the real rotary wheel which then removes the overlay display then hit the center of the wheel to start playback. Monitoring the output feed on the monitor. I would image there must be a similar way to achieve this on the GH5S?

OT, FWIW for Sony A7 cam users if you want uninterrupted playback of clip after clip without having to trigger them individually just select the clip you want to start playback from then go to the "slideshow" menu and trigger the slideshow dialogue and all the clips will play out sequentially without interruption.
