GH5 GH5S on B&H - who is buying?

I'm going to wait until NAB 2018 because I want to see if an upgraded DVX200 is announced at NAB. ( an upgraded DVX200 that records 4K 10-bit internal would be more useful to me than a GH5s )

Pre-ordered from B&H within minutes of the option to do so, I see mine is shipping today... can't wait!

The GH5s is the closest I've seen to the "perfect" camera in so many categories for my particular needs... I had cash on hand for an EVA1, but most likely in the long run 2 GH5s bodies and all the trimmings will serve me better than a single EVA would...

I preordered last week and got the email that mine is shipping today too. Supposed to become my B cam to my c200- finally glad I have another cam I can use above 3200 iso.

mine shipped out today from B&H also.

Re: perfect camera... my near perfect camera would be the GH5s with IBIS and 4k 60p internal 10-bit 4:2:2, firm 14 stops DR (this is a... maybe?), and a 5" 1500 nit built in LED monitor. Oh, and with the ability to disable electronic distortion/sharpening correction on native glass :)

But eh, close enough for 2018. Mine arrives Thursday.

Yes! with removable handle, please

Gonna be shooting in NYC next week, so gonna grab one in person. Always fun to visit Mecca in person. ;-)

I have a GH5 and my son just got the GH5S which I had for a couple days. I will say that the auto focus is definitely better. I bought the GH5 and sold my GH4 for the better auto focus and was greatly disappointed. This GH5s has better auto focus. I didn't do face detection and walk towards the camera, but I emulated what I would do picking up quick B-roll as if on a shoot where I only would get one shot at it and was surprised how well it kept up especially in low light. Not perfect but improved. Really impressed with the low light capabilities and how clean the video was. Must admit I miss the stabilization. I consider myself a rock solid handheld shooter so many shots were more than acceptable with the native lens OIS, but I missed emulating a tripod and being able to do it with the GH5. If you were running and gunning and not trying to be a human tripod I think the native OIS would be fine with the GH5S. I want this camera and if I could afford it would have both, but I'm afraid to sell my GH5 and lose the stabilization. I was surprised how much lighter the GH5s is. It really is a great camera for video.

I’m keeping both, I think most people will be happier with the dual IS2 of the gh5. The gh5s with an ois lens can be acceptable for certain static hand holds but micro jitter is still a caveat, especially (but not exclusively) if panning. I’ll be using a gimbal with the gh5s making it more for situational uses.
