GH5 GH5s import in davinci resolve ?

Well sorry about that. Works well for me on Windows, and I saw in the thread that Linux works and they chat about installing techniques for FFMPEG on the Mac and the BlackMagic tech never says, "Oh crap, it won't work for you Mac guys" or anything like that.

It did take me a couple tries where I almost gave up setting up the path to FFMPEG in the config... real picky syntax or some such issue if I remember.

Good luck....

Got it. I had to go into the I/O and switch the advanced setting from AV foundation to ffmpeg to indicate how the clip should be decoded. Just downloaded the ffmpeg dmg file and dropped it into the applications folder in MacOS and didn't have to set a custom path since that folder is already set in the system paths.

Its not an interesting choice. BMD makes cameras that shoot raw and ProRes so naturally they are going to support the formats their cameras shoot. RED raw is different but still raw and I believe RED makes their own codecs to assist NLEs in decoding. The 10bit h.264 files on the GH5 are a very odd format to support and it isn't as easy as flipping a switch. BMD has to go out of their way to develop a more optimized way of handling those files. Since the majority of their users are using many other cameras and formats the GH5 is really a drop in the bucket. It costs money to support odd formats.

If you want to blame somebody blame Panasonic for creating an odd format that is difficult to support.

I understand
I was not really blaming them, it was just a surprise for me, I thought BMD’s way for resolve was «*read , edit, transcode, grade anything*». But I understand, even if I think they make their money much more with equipment for studios , TV trucks ...
