Have any of you used a "Line to Mic Attenuator Cable" (passive/resistive padding)*with your GH5? My SONY PCM-D100 audio recorder's Line Out is too hot for the GH5's Mic input even when I turn the GH5's audio input gain all the way down. The problem is, I don't know the spec on the GH5's Mic input and I can't find it in the GH5 documentation either. Do any of you know?
Here is a*-50dB attenuator cable on B&H:

Is -50dB about the right level of drop to match the D100 to the GH5's Mic Input, or would a -25dB attenuator be better, or something else? *Do any of you have first-hand experience? *
Right now, I just use the SONY D100 to record to it's internal 32GB memory. I then shoot with the GH5, which records audio into the camera using the GH5's built-in mics. Later, using the GH5's audio track, I can properly sync up the D100's audio in post, replacing the GH5's audio entirely. But of course, if I could record the D100 directly into the GH5, it potentially saves me a little work in post. Not sure how much more noisy it would be if I do that, but I would need to experiment to find out, since no one else seems to have conducted a similar test.
Thanks.
- SONY PCM-D100 Line Out specs:
- Output impedance: 220Ω
- Rated output level: 1.7V
- Recommended load impedance: 22kΩ
- Output level: -21dBm to -15dBm
