GH4 GH5 4K 60p/50p and internal 4:2:2 10-bit 4K 30p

Is depressing reading on other places on the internet how quick the anti-MFT trolls are out, and of course their first red herring is "but it sucks at low light".

This low light argument reminds me of the megapixel race, sure there was big benefits from going from 2 megapixels to 5 megapixels, 12 megapixels, but then at around 16 megapixels to 24 megapixels range... the arguments got a *lot* weaker. And for 99.9% of users we don't need 50 megapixels!

Ditto low light, not being constrained by 50 ISO film is *AWESOME*, then getting to 200 ISO... great! And now we can do workable 800 and 1600 and even 3200 ISO!

Let's assume GH5 carries on and is one stop better even than that? How is that not a very workable ability to handle?

Do we NEED to have clean 100,00 ISO?? Nah, that is over the top in nearly all cases.

I'd rather pass on the unnecessary over the top extreme high ISO capabilities and have instead the well polished and extensive range of features that the GH5 will have.

a clean 1600 would be great.

a workable 3200 would be icing.

ymmv

be well.

Internal 10-bit 4:2:2 and 6K at 30p is amazing.

I just wish it had the DPAF from the recent Canon cameras. that would make it perfect.

GH5 looks like a winner. Amazing features.

I hope the 10bit is at a high bitrate. Low bitrate 10bit is rubbish.

Shame it can't do 4K 60FPS in 10bit. Hopefully the high-frame-rate 1080P is in 10bit.

I wonder if they'll opt for H265 in the end? Time will tell.

It really does work remarkably well in video, not even talking photos, which do also benefit.
Own the European version called gx80 since friday and I think you are right. Will need it for a research trip where I have to shoot much sneak and handheld.... Hope the GH5 will have same kind of dual stabilisation too.

I hope it doesn't, so folks will keep asking the lens makers to add OIS to their lenses.

...But all of these new Panasonic cameras with IBIS are featuring DUAL IS which requires both an IS camera body and an OIS lens.

So I don't see how this will detract from anyone making OIS lenses, as you only get the best stabilization from having both an IS camera body and an OIS lens.

"New Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) Camera" Panasonic Press Release

I haven't heard any Panasonic reps say the sensor is Micro Four Thirds yet. Not even in the press release. Maybe something else is going on inside the GH5? Maybe something like the JVC LS300. S35 with MFT mount.

That would be fantastic??!! But I doubt that's the case considering that would mean their current lens lineup would not cover the entire sensor size.
