Thats true. I guess the date to really watch out for is the availability of the DVX200 - V-LogL should be available around the same time.

The "GH4R" rumor just seems to bolster the notion that it will be a paid upgrade. Otherwise, why would they need a new designation for a version that has V-Log pre-installed? We already have GH4KBODY (body only), GH4-YAGH (with yagh), GH4H-K (bundled with lens). And maybe others I'm not aware of. If true, GH4R is probably just the designation for: "bundled with V-log".

GH4R... The R stands for Retro. This new camera version will only shoot standard definition black and white footage.

In regards to paid update though: While there are arguments that they could charge for it, without coming off too bad - VLOG was never promised upon the original release, and they did add some other useful features for free already - the timing on trying to charge for a firmware update is not the best. Samsung and to some degree Sony are nicer with firmware updates already, and Panasonics GH4 is already starting to look a bit traditional, compared with the features of the new Sony that adds 4K and IBIS (granted at the cost of being close to unusable due to heat issues...). Seeing the GH5 seems to be ways out yet, it would be smart to bolster their reputation instead of the few bucks this will provide them.

I'm thinking R stands for revised, and the gh4r, if there is such a thing, may have a new more powerful processor, to overcome some of the gh4 short comings. Gh4 will get the vlog l firmware update for free. Love speculate.
