GH4 GH4 V-log?

Anyone else feel like this V-Log business has gone on way too long without any real word from Panasonic? I wonder if we petitioned someone like Matt Allard or Andrew Reid to publicly ask Panasonic to give a detailed statement of the situation with V-Log, it would have any impact?

Companies in general and japanese companies in particular are most of the times rather locked up about their policies. And, having experienced the phenomen of storms of feces in the net, they may find it safer to keep mum than to expose themselves too much. Having said this, I still would like to see what the v-log can and can not do in the real world.....

I just want some 8-bit 4:2:0 shots to see how well the in-camera footage grades.

I really think Panasonic has done itself a disservice with the VLog situation. If they didn't want to hear us whine on the net about getting it then don't leak it all over the internet. Color science has always been a issue with the GH4 and now we know they have a huge improvement but they are not releasing it is going to cause issues. And sure as hell don't let Driftwood let us grade footage and see the power of Vlog for ourselves. Just a complete blunder in my opinion. They should just say when it will be released or if its not going to too until gh5. Dragging people on is not the best angle for PR... this can really extend the life of the GH4 so damn it release it already!!!! just give us what you gave Driftwood :) thats my rant and yes I am happy with my Gh4! I use the camera every day almost with video or stills but I am still correcting skin tones :)

I strongly suspect that people thinking a Gh4 with V-Log will NOT persuade people looking for all the bells and whistles of the DVX200 and an all in one solution camera type device. I mean, if V-log in the DVX200 is to be so protected like that they would be killing their Varicam sales. Right?

The DVX200 will make or break itself by virtue of image and it's own user experience.

Looking at the DVX200 specs, it appears that Panasonic has taken the technology of the GH4 and put it in an ENG style body with a 13x zoom lens. ( even the 4K crop is present in the DVX200 )

I expect the DVX200 is going to sell really well and will be quite profitable for Panasonic, so likely they are going to put as many bells and whistles into the DVX200 as they can, which may include being the first prosumer Panasonic camera to ship with V-log.

All of the reviews I've read about GH4 V-Log over the past 3-4 months pretty much state that V-log appears to be ready to go, but Panasonic appears to be holding back, so it would not surprise me if the DVX200 gets V-Log before the GH4 does.

I think holding anything back is a mistake for GH4 sales. If they are going to put V-log in the GH4 then they need to get going before its end of life shows up. Wait too long and we will all look to the GH5 and forget about purchasing a GH4. Which makes me think the GH4 is not the intended target for V-log. The DVX200 and the GH5 are the V-log focus and the GH4 will get it along the way.

Agreed. A year of this has been ridiculous. (It was first revealed in November, so that will almost be a full year for such a silly little thing.)

Good guess that was. Have a cigar. It made sense to me then and now it definitely looks like a nose-to-nose release.

Yep agree with that 1 year is ridiculous, for a piece of firmware...think how many have sold their GH4's in the meantime and moved on.
Its kinda embarassing really for Panasonic to take this long...maybe the firmware does some amazing extras (joking) like in cam noise reduction that rivals neat video..or a new
in cam revolutionary interpolation process that creates a 4K 100 FPS mode LOL!!!
Anyway the biggest question is...Is it too little too late maybe?
