GH4 Stops recording somewhat randomly!?

Hi!

Had my GH4 for two years now, never had any issues until a shoot a couple of month ago.

The camera just stopped recording soon after it started, no error messages where shown!
Figured it might be the memory card since that had been around as long as the camera (SanDisk Extreme 64GB)

Got a few new cards (SanDisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s) And did some test and it seemed it did the trick.

Then yesterday on a job it started acting up again, with one of the new cards.
Now i've been digging thru everything i could find on the subject and i can't say i'm much wiser.

Anyone solved this issue?

What i found as possible causes so far is:

*Bad card, guess i cant rule it out but it does not seem likely as it is a new high quality card.

*Messy card, do a low level format. Will try that one as soon as i get a card reader that is accepted by the software, same deal with the card speed test software.

*Some issue with the lens mount and some lenses, will try this as well!

Any help is appreciated!
Best regards

Emil

Do you do a lot of shooting and either erase files individually (or in groups), or do you frequently format in camera?

The culprit for this sort of thing is usually some degree of file data "clutter" clogging up the card. In camera format for Lumix bodies is "quick format" only, all this does is zero out the file allocation table by changing first two characters of each filename. But file data "clutter" is still there.

Regular low level format in a PC should take care of this. Uncheck the "quick format" box on Windows format utility for this.

Better yet. Download and use the FREE utility "SDFormatter", if on a MAC use the MAC version and do not even try the MAC format utility, camera may not recognize the card but SDFormatter does an efficient and clean job on both PC and MACs.

About every 3 or 4 uses of a card or before ANY IMPORTANT PROJECT I do a low level format on the card(s) and then follow that by formatting in the camera. Good luck.
