GH4 GH4 Out Resolves the 5K RED Epic MX!

^ by that logic, if you want a sharp shot of the moon you'd take it with a wide angle lens - and still, you actually go for the super-long lens that makes the moon fit the frame

the batman comparison says absolutely nothing, you just can't put the same prime on both cameras if the sensor is a lot bigger on one of them
the house test is not perfect either, since they didn't match the framing perfectly - but still: that one is really telling, the GH4 is one damn sharp camera
now, where are the DR tests?

Wow -- that's just outrageously deceptive.

The GH4 is way zoomed in, as compared to the Epic. Completely, totally unfair comparison.

I screenshotted the house, just in the little player, and in the GH4 pic the house roof is 178 pixels tall. On the Epic shot, the house roof is 142 pixels tall. On the 5D, it's 147 pixels. So the Epic to 5D they got "right", but on the GH4 it's zoomed in substantially.

Look at this picture that they list on their blog:
Epic-vs.-GH4.jpg

Does one look sharper than the other? Duh. That's what happens when you zoom in dramatically.

Why do people have to post such poor comparisons? Is it really *that* hard to just print out an ISO 12233 res chart, frame it up properly, and let the performance speak for itself? The chart has arrowheads right on it, so that you can ensure you're lining it up properly...

If you want to see how sharp the GH4 actually is, just download and print the 12233 chart (here's the link to it). Print it across 4 pages, so it's large enough that the fine detail won't be mushed by the printer. One shot of that will tell us all we need to know about resolved detail and propensity for aliasing.

One is shot at 4K and one is shot at 5K. You shoot an image at 4000 pixels and then another at 5000 pixels, then set each to a 300% zoom then they are gonna have different zoom factors. It's kinda simple math.

Except it's not simple. The resolution has nothing to do with the size of the sensor. You can have a 4K sensor that's 1/3" and a 4K sensor that's S35. They both have 4000 pixels, but the field of view will be wildly different when using the same lens.

Resolution is not the issue, sensor size is.

For me, gh4 has a 16mp 4/3 sensor which would have a much more packed photosites.
makes sense why it is more resolved.
its pixel density. Now i bet gh4 isnt that great in lowlight because of this
