I've seen a lot of videos of the Ronin M but wanted to quickly share my use of it with a GH4.
I shoot handheld all the time but I've never flown a gimbal and it is taking some getting used to.
I've also never shot a skate video but there's a park right by my office so I figured why not?
Plus, you can see a bunch of amateur skaters land not one trick...
I spent about 30 minutes down at the skate park filming and then edited this in Sony Vegas. This was shot in c4K 24 mode and cine-D. I had to create proxy files in order to edit the footage even on a powerhouse workstation.
I intentionally left some of the jerky pans and swings of the gimbal in there so you can that this thing doesn't always react the way you want it to. Sometimes it has a mind of its own. I've seen videos where people do ramping to hide the mishaps, and I've also seen some pretty great footage from a cam off the Ronin-M. I can't say that mine is that great.
I'm just not that good at using it, yet.
It's a pretty awesome piece of gear and I can definitely see its uses. It took me a while to get the durn thing balanced and the settings in the app right. I'm still working on those TBH. I plan to do a few more random shoots with this thing before I can ultimately say that it is worth the price.
That's what I can think of for now but if anybody has questions, I can try to answer them.
