(stupid search delay, ain nobody got time for that!)

Is it BEST to set GH4 White Balance using KELVIN setting, or use a gray or white card?

Custom White Balancing provides the most accurate rendition, but when filming under Sunlight, or Tungsten, I often just use the presets.

so, setting custom with a white or gray card is more accurate than tuning KELVIN 3200 or 5400 etc? custom tweaks all three RED GREEN BLUE better than generic settings?

Yes the card and custom will adjust all three channels to whatever the current lighting really is and the K scale only adjusts along the preprogrammed "ideal" settings for the listed steps.

Kelvin settings also allow the hue to be shifted. The combination of the two allow you to dial in the color very precisely and repeatedly for known lights. Very useful if you regularly shoot with the same package (like a fixed studio setting, for example.)

I have measured all of the lights I use as keys, and have those stored those values as presets. (I also used a sliver sharpie to mark the kelvin and offset on the light bodies themselves in case I forget or have another shooter working with me.)

Awesome info! Thanks gang! I will start WB with card, rather than Kelvin. K never really thrilled me. At least there's all these wonderful options.
