GH4 GH4/GH3 cages that work with Metabones speedbooster

Hello everyone,

I've searched the forums and read the threads pertaining to all the various GH4 cages. I'm looking at the motionnine cube cage, but more importantly, I'm looking for cages that will allow screwing a quick release into the bottom of the metabones speedbooster foot and also screw into the cage with no give; I'd like my quick release plate to seem as if it was screwed into just the bottom of the cage.

Are there any cages out there like this? I think I had read the viewvactor cage allowed this, but the top right of the cage seems to limit or hinder access to the iso/wb buttons and possibly the wheel.

I welcome any and all tips and/or suggestions. Thanks!

I saw those, but they are only a half cage. I would really prefer a full cage. I guess that limits my options. Also, the lockcircle birdcage is on the steep side. I'm not sure I can justify spending that much for a half cage. Plus you can only get the swivel or non-swivel the with hdmi lock versions. It seems much better suited for the a7s.

How hard did you search? There's a fairly recent thread with almost the same title in this section that should give you some good options: link

I use the Motionnine cage with Speed Booster, with the foot removed. Honestly, I've had all sorts of lenses hanging off the adapter and aside from being careful with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens, I've never worried that a lens is going to damage the Speed Booster or GH4. The mounts are solid.

Just my 2c.

Cheers from Berlin,

Paul :)

Thanks Paul! That was my main question as I'm really leaning towards the Motionnine cage. Did the speed booster foot extend further down from the Motionnine cage; is that why you removed it? I can't find any pictures online from the correct angle to answer this.

Edit: This is the only image I can find, but with the way it's angled I can't really tell if the two line up with each other:

I use the ViewFactor cage and the buttons are a little hard to get at, but I really like the compactness of the VF cage. It's one piece of metal and extremely solid. Also it's easy to pick up with one hand from any side of the cage.

Yes, that's right, it does extend a little below the cage.

For me that's not a problem though as I now use the Motionnine Rod Riser with the cage, so even with the foot on, it would never reach the baseplate:

Thanks so much Paul! I appreciate the pictures! I'm torn between the viewfactor cage and the motion nine cage. I would likely (very much want to) be using either of the cages with the Sachtler Ace baseplate.

Now just to make a decision. Thank you everyone for your help!
