GH4 gh4, gh3, 5d3 iso comparison test

While we had the gh4, some of the guys filmed this iso test between it and the 5d3 and gh3 all using the same lens. Obviously, the 5d3 is full frame vs the super35/aps-c of the gh3/gh4 in this test, so the 5d3 had to be physically closer and has a shallower apparent DOF, but that shouldn't really affect this kind of test. Cheers!

 
Wow! At 3200 ISO, the GH4 footage is still what I'd consider usable. BIG improvement over the GH2 and 3. Even at 6400 ISO, it's more 'acceptable' than the GH2 at lower ISOs.

What were the values in footcandles of the lighting you were using?
 
Thanks for posting this, Floop. Interesting comparison. Is there any way to download the original file to view it without Youtube's compression?

I watched it at 4K on my 27" 2.5K monitor, and the thing that jumped out at me immediately is the amazing detail in the GH4 vs the GH3 & 5DIII. Which is to be expected, since it's shooting at 4K vs the 1080p of the other two, but still. That said, it appears the 5DIII handles high ISO better than either GH camera (which makes sense given the sensor size). Though the only way to be sure is to view the original uncompressed file.
