GH4 GH4 DMW-YAGH Request to Panasonic ! Please redesign the module before release !

considering this is more for larger rigs and needs mains power I don't think it is really meant for handheld shooting so I don't think they need to redesign it.
Instead of a redesign of the YAGH they should make a 2nd more affordable accessory that is meant to be a handheld grip to get better audio, runs on 2 camera batteries and has 2 XLR inputs(or even mini XLR) & meters/level knobs. Something like this between $400-600 would probably bode well for people that want better audio streamlined into the camera but don't need 4k external recording.

Well said. I agree. It is however, important to keep the micro HDMI port accessible.

This unit would make things a lot easier for the user and reduce the amount of add-on's needed.

Then perhaps a dedicated camcorder would suit you better. Also, many people that have actually handled the adapter have been pleasantly surprised by how small it is, especially when contrasted with their expectations.

Besides which, there is no way they are going to radically redesign the thing at this late stage.

With a little bit of redesign they could have a really great battery powered audio interface with meters / level knobs, hi and low cut filters and limiters.
That's not a "redesign" it's a different product. As was explained above, the YAGH is not a portable battery grip, it's a wired base mount, designed to accept 15mm rods. It duplicates the pro-audio capabilities of the AF100 and is really designed for shooters who want to record synced sound with external XLR's and condensers. You need phantom power with that kind of rig so the cabling is a given. The YAGH then makes it easy to swap the GH4 between YAGH tripod mount and handheld/shoulder mounts.
