GH4 and external monitors

I am purchasing a GH4, and will need an exterior monitor for the gimbal I will be using in conjunction with it.

Does anybody know of a monitor that will work with the GH4 that does not have issues? I only need the monitor for focusing, and framing the shot. All the video I will shoot is without sound since it is just for stock.

I came across this video which shows a couple fixes for this TV Logic external monitor, yet I was hoping there was a monitor that had no issues whatsoever.

Not on a gimbal, but I've used an iPad running the Panasonic Image app... no wires and enables some camera control.
 
I could live with that if it works. It is only for my use and not allowing a client to view.

A couple more questions.......

Is there a delay in video between what is happening and what is displayed onscreen of the IPAD? I have read that frequently there is a slight delay with external monitors.

What would be the best way to try to attach an IPAD to a gimbal?

I think I will be purchasing the SILK gimbal if that matters in the decision making process.
 
My SmallHD DP6 works perfectly with it. My DP7 on the other hand struggles to keep a connection and so i've barely used it.

Could you tell me if there is a delay between what is happening, and what is displayed on the screen?

I intend on capturing a lot of action shots which will require me to be following fast moving objects like waverunners, motorcycles, snowboarders, which makes delays rather undesired for obvious reasons.

Yes, there is a delay of about the same magnitude as I've seen on monitors.

When rigging something with the iPad, I use this part from my prompter kit:

I'd imagine other iPad/tablet tripod mounts would work as well... other cheaper Android tablets would likely also work.
 
I just tried this with my Marshall V-LCD70MD 7" monitor, my MustHD M701 7" monitor, and my cheapo $130 FeelWorld FW759 7" monitor, and all three monitors had no problems attaining sync with my GH4 when I turn on each monitor after the GH4 is already on.

My GH4 would stop shooting with all three monitors if they were shut off, which I am guessing is a safety feature of the GH4.

Thanks........are you saying that there is zero lag whatsoever between the monitors and the camera? That would be great if that is the case.

I haven't tested for this, but I've been shooting since last September with my GH4 and I'm not noticing any significant lag with the image. Waiting for the monitor to sync with the camera when you first turn the monitor on is a tiny pain to put up with. ( especially with the MustHD monitor where it takes 21 seconds to sync )
