Hi

I'Ve had the Panasonic GH3 for 9 months and wrote a review about it

It's not a technical review; more of a personal review on how I use it (mostly for personal projects, but also for a couple of corporate projects)

Let me know what you think !

Nice review, thanks for that! Be interesting to know what your thoughts are on picture profiles and shooting flat etc. Cheers, aaron

Hi aaron, The best settings I have found for serious shoots is natural, with contrast -3, sharpness -3, Noise reduction -5. This gives you the biggest latitude. I increase later sharpness and grade later in post.

For casual shots or when you have to deliver a video as quickly as possible, I shoot standard, contrast 0, noise reduction -3. This is the case where you want to put directly the footage into Premiere and plan to have little to no color correction.

Nice portraits!

Although to my eyes Panasonic still struggles with "digital" looking stills (even if shooting RAW). They simply can't put up to the general IQ of Canon and Nikon. I use all brands of cameras so no fanboy and it would be fantastic if Panasonic got better sensor performance in stills because on the video side they have been winning for quite a while imo, GH3 is my fav video dslr apart from the quite-a-hassle-to-work-with 5dmk3 raw video.

I hope GH4K will improve on the stills front. Panasonic makes everyting else right, they just need to get those organic colors and DR into their sensors.

If you use a good fast lens, then you can get good pictures with a GH3 (Olympus 45mm f1.8 or Olympus 75mm are good examples). I'm quite satisfied with the GH3 as the GH2 stills had a visible blue/green grey tint to them :/

If you use kit zooms or other lenses though, the pictures look very digital. Things to consider when doing a serious project

Also, I haven't used an Olympus, but it seems to me Panasonic is limited by the size of m43 sensors. Let's see what the GH4 has
