You can mix footage from the GH2 and GH3 fairly easily, but after getting my GH3, I had to buy another, so I sold my GH2.
It's in low light where there's a difference in image quality, it's better on the GH3, but probably not enough to justify the price difference alone, but add in the much longer battery life, ease of use (I like having an ISO and WB button on top), much better touch screen, waterproofing and overall ergonomics and the GH3 is in one word: wonderful
If I'd to use 4 words that didn't really make sense to describe the GH3 I'd opt for: sex on a stick
I sold it to a mate so I probably sold it cheap, for £500 with a lens, eye-fi card, spare batteries and a spare charger. All take your word about sex on a stick.
By the way, what did you sell your GH2 for?
Don't have the GH3 yet, but my take after peeping a lot of footage is, get the GH3 if 60p1080 is needed. Otherwise, especially with Driftwood's latest hacks (moon for example) the GH2 might be producing a more pleasing image. Caveat: the 320 bug on the GH2 freaking sucks and ruins shots... so there's another reason maybe to upgrade.
