Here is a little video I made of my new Mini-Rig for the GH3/GH2 using the Carry Speed VF-4 and iDC System Zero Follow Focus:

They work very well together.

Thanks for the video. Nice setup. Next time include the prices of each item and you'll save me some Googling.

Yeah I have links to all the gear on the Vimeo page, I guess I should have copied them here too.

Thanks,

Nice video, and nice hacks with those silicon bands.

Was there a reason you decided to go with gearless vs. geared? If you went with a geared IDC, the gears would take the place of the silicon bands, no?

I'm a GH2 owner still wondering if it's worth it to go to GH3. It's only for personal use so I'm in no hurry to upgrade. I may wait until used GH3s come onto the market.

Also, I contacted iDC and they said that they're not going to support the GH3. I realize that the GH2 plate supports the GH3 but it's a shame.

I used the gearless model because all my lenses are native MFT with pure electronic focus controls. This means that there are no stops on the focus ring and turning it at different speeds will give you different focus distances changes for the same amount of turn on the ring. If I strapped a focus gear on there that had a seam (as most do) it would interfere with the full travel needed on these lenses.

Then nice thing about the System Zero is you can swap out just the wheel for a geared one when using lenses with a mechanical focus that have a set travel length.

It is a shame iDC is not making a GH3 base (I asked too) but I bought a GH3 hoping my GH2 base would fit and it does ...
