At least from the first promo video called Genesis by Philip Bloom and other pros it looks to me like the captured image is not much better than well produced hacked GH2 footage (and quite possibly the all-I-frame hacked GH2 is sharper in some instances), but again, it's only the first test of a pre-production model. Some are saying the GH3 is using a Sony sensor rather than a multi-aspect type designed by Panasonic like in the GH2 and the image is, by default, softer.
It still has a noticeable rolling shutter artifact. It's possible that the much cheaper GH2 may hang out a bit longer in people's camera bags until in-the-wild GH3's are more thoroughly tested.
If the GH3 has a clean HDMI output and good utilization of time code stamping, then that might turn the tables... besides the more robust body on the GH3. All-in-all it might be hard, for those film makers who think $2,000 or more for a video starter kit is too rich, to pass up snagging a couple discounted GH2 bodies at least for a multicamera shoot.
