GH2 GH2-X "FOUR" (Quantum + P-frame 720p Patch for Sandisk Extreme30MB/s) [Final Version]

Here is a short video shot in "SH" with Sage's 720P60 hack
Great work from you and your son. Especially impressed with the Vicky Benzing video
Sage, now that the new PTool is out, should it be safe to import "FOUR" settings with the v1.1 firmware?
Yes, everything will be the same, except w/ the 1.1 variations. Four has yet to be optimized for 3.64; that will come when the parameters introduced are better known.
@Sage - Reflashing back to stock seemed to do the trick. Everything seems to working normally now. Stuff looks amazing with your settings on preliminary tests. Only got a write error once in 720SH. Every time was good and the "H" setting seems to rock solid.

Thanks again to you and Tim both for the all the assistance. Much appreciated.

That's good to hear. Fwiw, the changes introduced on 2/13 were to ensure absolute stability. In short, it has been tested under the most brutal circumstances to span point repeatedly, and never crashes (given the appropriate mode for the lens used). I decided absolute stability was the most important criteria to meet, to allow use in professional application. I may put out a more ambitious setting with the title 'extreme'. Excepting 1080i, this is now the most stable 50/60 patch you can use (can't crash under the designated mode), and the highest quality.

Can't wait for the new version and the type of quality to come. We keep thinking, theres no way it can get better, but who knows now.

@seven.b - Really well done. Can you talk more about your settings, and did you mix 24p and 60p or was that all taken from SH? Thanks.

FD glass + 11-16mm Tokina. SH failed twice in 4 days and over 150 clips. I can deal with that. :D

Dude...that was outta bounds!
I forgot why I was watching after a moment as all I could think about was reeeeeeally wanting to ride that trail you guys hit.

Questions:
1. Did you use a steadycam or a jib/crane on any of that?
2. Where is that freakin' trail?
3. What was your method for slo-mo?
4. What cards did you use?
5. Am I asking too many questions?

Thanks!

Thanks DPStewart-

1. I used a Glidecam HD4000 and DIY zaza slider for the dolly/jib shots.
2. There's three trails/areas... Glendora Mountain Rd. being the main one. The rest are are Hulda Crooks Park in Loma Linda, CA
3. Shot slow-mo in 720p SH mode and interpreted the footage as 23.976 in Adobe Premiere CS5.5
4. Sandisk Extreme 95mb/s 16GB
5. Yes.

Haha, kidding. Thanks for the love on the video!

Nice work. I believe you have the pre 2/13 version (which I would call the 'extreme'). The current version won't crash, no matter what is filmed (though less bitrate as a trade off for absolute stability).

Thanks Sage- Too busy to keep up with the latest, I'll install it now!

Here you go, just for manual lenses:
sagepictures.com/FOURX.zip

SH- Extreme, which gives up absolute stability for higher bitrate
H- Absolute Stability, same as SH normal

Sage, how noticeable are differences between SH and H to you?

Also, is this bundled with v9b for shooting 1080p24? And then your settings when switched to manual and SH & H modes?

The difference is not significant - the extra bitrate goes to the p frames to capture more fine detail/grain up to what the primitive 50/60 quantization allows in the shadows. The biggest difference will be seen in grain clarity on high detail scenes, like deep focus forest shots etc. I frames still peak where they need to. It is bundled with v9b, with a stable 30p (80%) and better encoder settings for 24/30.

Okay, I'm done. That was easy. Orion just mops the floor. Wasn't expecting that for some reason. No reason for images, the difference was conspicuous, the grain cleaner, the image clearer.

Great news- so is the SH looking good in Orion as well? If not- how do we get Four's SH into Orion?

That was inspiring. Just great shooting-edit spot on
I'd swear that was Alexa footage. Any thoughts about the grade, perhaps shot in Nostalgia, but the look goes beyond that-holding highlights everywhere.
Like I said, I really liked it.
gush
