GH2 GH2 + Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 + Canon FD 50mm f/1.4

Here's a last-minute promo piece I shot for Prospect Theater Company. Shot entirely with the GH2 (non-hacked, 1080/24p) using a Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 (I believe wide open almost all the time) and a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 (also wide open) with only available light. Ignore the crappy audio; I didn't have my Rode Videomic Pro at the time, so this was recorded using only the camera's built-in mic, unfortunately. This footage has not been processed in any way (no color grading.) For best quality you should download the original file (it's big) and play it on a 42" HDTV. This should give you a pretty good idea of what raw footage looks like from this camera. I don't see any hints of moire or aliasing, but you should look for yourselves.

Enjoy!

I understand that this was last minute and visually the piece is good, but for me it's brought down by the audio. As a test, OK - as a promo, I'm not sure. Regardless of the haste, surely someone could have held a microphone out of frame for you. Even the cheapest handheld recorder would have been better.

Otherwise, nice job.

Which sections did you use the canon FD.
I believe most of the interviews were shot with the Canon 50mm FD lens, except for the one with the Stage Manager and the one with the three girls in the dark theater. The behind-the-scenes stuff was a combination of the FD for close ups and the Voigtlander for wider shots. They really do match up very well.

I completely agree. The problem was that I only had my GH2 and no external microphone with me, and that was the only time I would be able to shoot the footage, so it was either built-in mic or nuthin'. A big part of me wishes it had been "nuthin'" because I can't stand bad audio in movies, but this really was one of those cases where I had no choice.

Otherwise, nice job.
Thanks. :)
