Hello good people.
I've been reading the gh2 manual over and over and having no luck. I have a panasonic projector - with HDMI outlets. With a mini hdmi plugged into my gh2 and into my projector i'm trying to get sound to play over my stereo system. No luck. I bought the 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm adapter for the sound jack thinking I be able to get sound that way. Maybe Im way off there. Any help would be appreiciated. Newbie. I'll owe ya a house by the sea.

You are trying to make an input and output. I you have a receiver with an HDMI pass through you would be goo. I guess you can use the RCA jacks that came with the cam. Not sure if HDMI and composite outputs will work at the sane time.

This is an issue for many. The hdmi out of the camera is NOT that great. HDMI itself is kind of sucky BS created for piracy protection not for great signal pass through. I used to use the gh13 mini hdmi out to check footage but I stopped because I found it far superior to pop the SD card out and into a panasonic blu-ray player. I have a home theater pc setup and run a 20 foot hdmi cable to my projector and then a spdif cable to my receiver for DTS 7.1 surround insanity on blu-ray but of course the sound form your native gh1, gh13, or gh2 will be stereo. Works perfectly, syncs perfectly.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I'm all good now - threw the whole (*&&^%%$$ system out the window! Got a six pack and am about to watch the thin red line with the sound off. :)

So Michael you think if I pick up "a spdif cable" that might do it? To put it simply.
my set up is the pan projector running a hdmi to my sony blu ray with the other end of the hdmi.
Then from my blu ray player I run rca cables to stereo for sound.

with the gh2 i can't insert both the hdmi and the av cable supplied cable at the same time - (size issue)

my stereo reciver does not have an hdmi outlet.
PS - along with the house by the sea - i'm also throwing in a small pub in the south of ireland.

Huh Boncrek - if that's true - well that explains a few things :) Im not sure if that's correct though. I'm back to the manual :)

if there's no audio out from the hdmi - using a mini hdmi adapter - i can't get both the mini hdmi and the av cable that's supplied into the jacks side by side - hmmmm.....

Audio out on playback - Yes
Audio out on record - No

Ah see, I knew I wasn't making that up.
I think I also saw this in the thread on recording the HDMI signal.

Its a shame that we cant hear it while recording but you can review the audio after each take (if your doing a narrative-controlled-set sort of thing)
No audio monitoring for run-n-gun stuff im afraid then...

thanks ramboc and boncrek.
still can't figure out how to get sound over the stereo. about to go light some candles up at st pats.

You don't get good sound out of built-in mic. You can do audio monitoring from any one of shotgun mic & juicedlink, zoom, tascam, dual pre, etc. But YMMV since run-n-gun could mean anything. My own definition of run-n-gun has changed over a year. Initially a body and a lens. Then extra lens... filters... camcorder handle... ext mic & dual pre... a rig... a shoulder support... a LED light. It ain't compact anymore. As long as I'm not carrying a tripod, that's run-n-gun.
