Gh2 skew

7D/t2i scewing can be controlled with shutter speed (ie action scenes), GH1 totally useless on this point. Looks like GH2 plays the same leauge, too bad.

No it can't. Shutter speed has zero effect on the amount of skew any rolling shutter camera exhibits.

And the Gh1 was directly comparable to the 7D (seeing as I owned both at the time and compared them, and in 24p they were extremely closely matched).

Here is GH1/2 Skew test. GH1 was on top of GH2, I did the best I could with that, hotshoe to 1/4" 20, couldn't get the shots exactly the same. GH1 had Nikkor 50mm and GH2 used 14-140mm at 50mm. Both lenses stopped down to f/5.6, GH1 was at ISO 800, GH2 at 1600. Both at 1/320th shutter. First shot is a superimposed test with two colors so you can see both at once, GH2 is in red, GH1 in blue. Second shot is same test, both cameras at same time. Last two shots are each shot one by one. Both cameras were shooting 1080/24p, and transcoded to ProRes 422 in post. Gh1 pulldown was removed in Compressor. Shots were synced with a clap on the audio track. Skew looks about the same to me. .MTS files could be up if really needed but I think downloading the vimeo should be fine.

I don't know why but Vimeo seems to be not working right now, my video uploads and never transcodes...I am going to reencode at a lower quality.

excellent test, thanks!

so ? what's your verdict ?
looks almost the same. not such a big difference. interesting test would be 7d

For a moment I thought Ben shot this at my house… I have both of the same grills he has on my porch!

Nice test, Ben!

Skew seems same, but GH2 seems a little hardier on the jello wobble from small shakes.
