Hey folks, I tried connecting my Rode NTG2 to my GH2 with an XLR to Mini Adapter and a 3.5 to 2.5 Adapter and I had no success. I put a brand new battery in the mic and I kept getting as prompt to turn on the power to the external mic. The NTG-2 does not have a power switch that I know of, can anyone help me with this? I plan on getting a Juicedlink pre-amp soon but i figured I should be able to get something with this setup.

Thanks Chocobo, I looked at those threads and didn't really find an answer because people in those threads had success with battery powered phantom mics and I have not. But i really do appreciate the reply. I even tried connecting a handheld mic with no luck. I've ordered another 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter hopefully thats the issue. I still plan on getting a Juicedlink DT454 soon but I want to make sure my audio input is working first.

I've been asking about getting an NTG-3 to work with a GH1, and in that situation I'd have to use a product from BeachTek or JuicedLink, however, at least with the GH1, I received an email back from one of those companies basically telling me that the GH1's crosstalk is going to bugger the sound... So, they recommended the NTG-2 because you can pop a battery in it and avoid using an intermediate altogether.
I also emailed someone from Rode, and this is their answer in response to me wanting to use an NTG-3:
"The other option is to consider the NTG2, as this microphone can be battery powered and would not require thse use of phantom power. In this case you would need an XLR to 2.5mm jack, or an XLR to 3.5mm (which is more common) with a 2.5mm adaptor."
So, a question from me would be, did you have a battery in the NTG-2 when trying it?

Good luck! I'd like to know your progress, including the quality of the record using an NTG-2 on that GH2.

Yes I had a brand new duracell in it when I tried (tried a few different ones) It, I'm hoping it's the flexible 2.5 to 3.5 adapter I got from radioshack because I tried a cheap handheld and had no luck either. I ordered a hosa adapter from Adorama and I really hope it does the trick. It should be here by monday and I'll let you know my results.

It seems that my Radioshack Adapter was the problem all along. I got the Hosa Adapter from Adorama and I get audio from my NTG-2 with no problem as well as other mica I've tried. This pleases me greatly.
