GH2 Pre-orders

Same here. Got the exact same phone call tonight.
 
My Gray GH2(Body Only) get's delivered from Samy's in about 2 hours. I have a GH1(Unhacked and the owner doesn't want it to be hacked), a hacked GF13, and a Nikon D7000 to test it against. If anyone else in the Raleigh Area has a Canon 5D mkII, 7D, T2i or hacked GH13 they want to test it against maybe we could meet up somewhere.

Yikes, Provantage told me the 29th yesterday. My Amazon order has a delivery estimate of the 16th still. It would be a shame to not have something by Christmas considering how long I have had preorders in. Panasonic USA really needs to work on their distribution network.
 
Kind of a stupid question but, what exactly comes with the GH2 body when ordered through Panasonic Direct? I kinda assumed that a battery and cable accessories would come with it but now I can't find that information on the website. Anyone know?

Good question. I hadn't thought of that. I hope it comes with battery and charger.
 
Got a call from Panasonic this morning and when I asked when I should expect it to ship, the lady told me that it should ship in "7 - 10 business days". I'm in no hurry to get GH2 but the way Panasonic has handled this and GH1 launch, it is totally ridiculous. I was hoping that should have learned from GH1 launch and made appropriate changes to handle GH2 launch better.

The body-only config includes the body itself plus items 12-21 (including a battery & charger, etc.).

The body + lens configs include all of the above plus accessories specific to the particular lens (lens hood, lens bag, etc.)
 
My 12/2 slash 12/3 order from panny direct which I was told on the phone would ship in 2-3 business days (yesterday) is apparently backordered for 5 weeks based on the call I just got from them (in response to an email) this morning...I don't understand the crazy inconsistencies....JUST TELL ME 2 business days to 5 weeks. lol.

I ordered at the same time, and was just told 24-48 hrs to ship. (with the body only confirmation call)
 
So, if we average Ben & Sage's ship times from Panasonic Direct, we can expect our GH2 cams to arrive in, what, about 2-3 weeks?

P.S.: I just spoke with P.D. a few minutes ago, too, but I won't bore you with the (probably meaningless) details ...
P.P.S.: While waiting on hold, I agreed to do an automated phone survey concerning P.D.'s customer service. Needless to say I didn't give them high marks ...

Worst part is that Panasonic has no reason to improve on anything because even after all the crap be had to face last time...we are all back in line for GH2. I am sure that even though Panasonic has disappointed us again with their CS, we all will be running to get in line for pre-order whenever GH3 is announced :)

I just got the same call. She said it will be here in 1 to 5 weeks. I ordered the body only on 12/2. This is the number that showed up on my phone. The map shows it's in Virginia

I'll keep waiting as I got it for $630. I was ready to pay $900 for the body only but with the green I'm saving I can get some more lenses on ebay. Isn't this fun? It's a hobby for me so I pitty the working dudes that need this camera.

I also ordered from vistek yesterday. 14 - 140 kit. They were awesome to work with and my gh2 shipped today. I am in Connecticut. I had a preorder at adorama but called yesterday and they said another 2 weeks maybe. Not sure why more people aren't ordering from vistek. They were a pleasure to order from.

Interesting times, again. Panasonic just called me, 2:17pm Central U.S. time here in Wisconsin...same number from before 757, etc. Anyway, James said the following to me:

James: Is this _____ ______?
Me: Yes, I'm ______ _______
James: Good day, sir, I would just like to confirm that you still want the body only?
Me: Yes, that's correct
James: Ok, I'll go ahead and process this order for you now then. It will ship out in the next 24-48hrs.
Me: So, they actually have some in stock now.
James: Oh yes, yes, they do now. Your credit card should show it soon and we will send you a UPS tracking number when it ships
Me: Thank you

So, do I believe it? Well, I think I'm getting one now, but I guess it won't be until next week or later. Time will tell.
