GH2 Pre-orders

Same issue with my local authorized dealer. They got some pre-orders but Panasonic still haven't told them an actual shipping date.

I do wonder if the US stocks are being re-tested for quality or we're getting a newer batch that might be better than the older batch that other countries such as Japan and Canada got.


At least at this stage I wouldn't really have time to play with it until Thursday late afternoon so I wont care if I get it within a couple of days. For sure playing with it this weekend when I do have a bit of time would be nice. At least I'm not allowing myself to be that stressful about it although I'm not so sure I'd feel the same way if I get it after the 23rd.

We're in the same boat. Maybe it did ship. Did you check your credit card. Panasonic did put a hold for exact amount on my card. thats a good sign.
 
No change on my preorder. I tried calling Panasonic but after waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I just gave up.

I "pre-ordered"/"ordered" (I don't think there's really a difference) from Panasonic Direct on 12/1 (@ my wife's corporate buy discount), but haven't received a tracking number yet.

I received an acknowledgment email from them the day I ordered, but that only contains order info, not shipping info.

I'm on hold right now on PD's customer service phone line ... I'll let you know if anything constructive happens ...

Anyone else with a Samy's pre-order? Just wondering if anyone else can confirm whether they are shipping or not.

Also a note to everyone who has early Amazon pre-orders. They will ship whether you cancel it or not. Even if the system allows you to cancel it they probably won't be able to stop it from shipping. I canceled my GF1 order last year but they still shipped later that day anyway. Don’t panic if you have two orders ship. Just refuse delivery on the Amazon order. They won’t charge you anything.
 
Anybody know if Panasonic Direct will start selling again. I have a pre-order with Amazon but I have a corporate discount through Panasonic.
 
I was told it goes by nearest warehouse. West coast orders seem to have shipped. Midwest orders are stuck (maybe that warehouse has not received stock?). A Panasonic Direct sales rep said they still have GH2s in stock and more are due in soon...but my order still has no status.

Did you find out anything? I hope you're not still on hold.
 
Panasonic called and left a message. I returned the call and they said my phone no. did not match the one on my CC - of course it did, so she checked again and it did match. She looked, found one in a warehouse and says it will ship tomorrow (Tuesday). They have now held the charge on my cc, and my shipping date has been updated to “Dec”. The 100-300 shows as backordered (she said until Jan 7). It looks like they may actually be moving, and I wonder if retailers will also have them in stock tomorrow? Might be worth checking.

Me & my wife were on hold with PD CS for >85 min. ...

Here's what they told my wife: Panasonic Direct doesn't have a tracking # for us yet, but the GH2 has allegedly left their warehouse (whatever that means), and the new estimated delivery date is now 12/9/10. I hope that's true, but I'll believe it when I see it.

If my GH2 arrives in a few days, it'll be nice to shoot more footage of this huge steam train this weekend with the GH2 instead of the GH1, just for comparison sake. (The train's whistle sound is awesome.)

Something that i've found is helpful for us folk out there who maybe don't have unlimited minutes or headsets to wait on hold. Get a free google voice # and make the call directly from your computer for free, turn up the speakers and walk around the house so you don't have to site waiting for CS to pick up. Works great!

Thanks for the tip! I just called Leo's Camera –they said they are expecting their shipment of 3 GH2's with 14-140 lenses to arrive in the next couple of days. One was already reserved with money down. I put money down on another one. One left! I am in Washington state. They said if I ever need warranty work, I'll have to send it to Panasonic Canada. The exchange rate is just barely (almost negligible) in my favor.
 
I have bought things from Panasonic Direct maybe 50 to 60 times during the last 4 years (I am a sucker for the employee discounts), and have never received a single tracking number from them even once. The package(s) just showed up on my door steps.

I am lucky that I never had any problems with the orders, EXCEPT for the massage chair that I ordered which was to be delivered by a third party. The first time was around Christmas 2007, and the second time was around Christmas 2009. To make a long story very short, each time the third delivery company claimed that I “verbally canceled order”, which was a lie as I never talked with the delivery co. Anyway each time I had to call Panasonic Direct and spent a long while on the phone to sort out things and get my money refunded.

I too have placed an order for the GH2 on 1 Dec, and hope it shows up tomorrow (hey, there is always tomorrow).

When I ordered my TM700 camcorder last April there was a UPS tracking link on my online order page.

When I clicked on the "Track item @ UPS " hyperlink it opened the UPS page with the tracking # and delivery info. BTW I just clicked on the link and the UPS delivery info shows it was delivered April 15 2010.

I don't believe this is how Google Voice works, unfortunately. You'd have to use Skype or some equivalent VOIP serivce, and even that costs something.

Edit: I think maybe you meant the Call function in Gmail...
