GH2 Pre-orders

They have a weird naming system that I suspect is due to the camera just being added, but I found it by going through the categories on the site...http://www.provantage.com/panasonic-dmc-gh2hk~APSTV1MR.htm. The model number is correct (DMC-GH2HK).

Also shows up on Google shopping if you search for "panasonic gh2 14-140".

Thanks a lot skiandbike, that's the lowest price. I just canceled my Adorama order they didn't have a clue when may be available. Hopefully they do deliver in few weeks it looks like the shipping has changed from $6.00 to $11.XX that's the lowest shipping method ground. I hope it does come with a box and manuals :P

One thing though, I was a little worried the lower price on Provantage was to rope people in and found in the FAQ in Provantage there are questions "Why are there fluctuations in your prices? and What happens if a price changes after I place my order, but before you accept it? " But as long as its 1500 or under im ok with it if it means a quicker pre order. I like Adorama but them not even taking a guess when theyll get them in along with the late preorder has me doubting ill get it from them before Christmas.

The status of the 14mm and 100-300mm changed on Amazon last night. They are now listed as temporarily out of stock instead of the "usually ships in 1-2 months" it said before. That is a good sign that they will be shipping soon. The GH2 should also ship in the next week also.

Ok, so here is the deal. After spending over 20 min on the phone with Panasonic USA they told me that is no way any store would have the lumix DMC-GH2H-K in stock before the second week of January 2011.

The representative denied any claims of November or December deliveries referring to them as incorrect and definitely inacurrate and said that they wouldn't even have them in stock until January.

After that I called Provantage and they said that any "special order" it takes a little over two weeks but failed to verify the actual shipping or stocking date telling me to call the Manufacturer. So this is becoming an interesting game and it looks like provantage and other are just fishing for customers.

That is funny that you actually believe a Panasonic customer service drone would know when the product was going to ship. They don’t tell their customer support reps squat. They want them to stick to the script and get off the phone as fast as they can. Time is money.

I believe what Amazon says because they have a keen interest in getting the date right. They have a lot of money riding on the fact that they will probably get them first. Panasonic knows this and Panasonic keeps them informed. So if Amazon says 11/22/10 for the ship date then I believe it will ship on that date or sooner.

What I can say for certain is that people in the United States will have NTSC GH2s in their hands before Christmas. What the customer service rep told you is completely incorrect. I bet she was looking at the GF2 ship dates because that sounds accurate for that camera.

That can very well be the case, I guess the sales department at Pana is incompetent then, and the correct part was verified by the sales rep which knew the product really well hence our 20min discussion about the GH2. Before I cancelled my order with Adorama they had no clue claiming that it may very well be January and that they weren't expecting any stock anytime soon, that's the reason I cancelled my order with them.

Remember that the Panasonic GH2 will not be sold directly through Panasonic USA. I suspect the GF2 will be sold through Panasonic direct just like the GF1 was though. That would explain why the Panasonic Salesperson(A.K.A Panasonic sales/support drone) knows about the GF2 and not about the GH2.

Maybe they remember how many people they screwed with GH1 launch and that's why no GH2 through panny direct?

Where are you getting this information from?

I ordered my Gh2 through Provantage couple of days ago, and they were very helpful assisting me with the order and getting me a correct shipping date of November 30th. I made sure that was correct after the conversation I had with the Pana sales rep, and the Provantage sales person flagged that information as incorrect and that the stock is right on the schedule and that my GH2 should arrive around November 30th. I thought I would share this info.

Thanks for sharing that information. Did they say what day they are expecting to get their first shipment in?

I went back and looked at all of the posts from when the GF1 was first released. It was a huge mess. Amazon listed a specific date and then on the morning of that date they switched the status to usually ships in 1-2 months. Everyone canceled their orders with Amazon then. However, Amazon shipped the cameras 2 days later.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens with the GH2. They are supposed to ship them starting on Monday. However, I bet they won’t ship until Tuesday. Therefore, if you want it before Thanksgiving you will need to do overnight shipping.
