GH2 official discussion thread

With none other than the high quality video from Philip Bloom which would take good man hours, I don't blame him for not being able to test GH2 with Nanoflash.
 
We know you like riddles, but we would like to know:
What do you mean?

25p?
50p?
HDMI out with sound?
HDMI out at 720p?
Firmware update of the GH2 i.e. you can hack the GH2?
GH3?
Nothing of that?

What is it?

Noone knows. Let's not feed the confusion mill with additional rumor-fodder. We need to at least figure out what's going on with the first batch of Japanese GH2s already shipped.

Does anyone have experience with the HDMI capture card that Roei has, the Blackmagic DeckLink HD Extreme IIRC? Perhaps you can give him a call on skype and try walking through troubleshooting steps?
 
Well Vitaliy made the impression, that he knows something (I am sure he does otherwise he would not write something like that) and I just thought he could share his knowledge.
 
Whatever that is, I'm not getting 1st batch in the states. I'm planning to get it around next March... after initial madness.

I am pretty sure about this information. As it had been provided as excuse by my contacts.
I do not have any details, so it'll be just baseless rumors to say if this is 25p,50p, etc,
All I know that they have big problems in production and that they do all they can to solve them.
P.S. Exactly as predicted much earlier :-) "GH1 story v2, now more drama" in theaters near you :-)

If true, that sounds like it could be caused by a sensor fab yield/quality problem. But this is just a wild guess on my part, not based in any facts. :-)

Meanwhile, I think it's safe to say the the shipping GH2 cams (Japanese) seem to include at least a few of the improvements we hoped for more than a year ago, so that's a good thing. We didn't get everything we wished for, but there's nothing unusual about that.

These cams are good values & relatively inexpensive considering their HD video quality, DOF characteristics, lens options and _potential_ to be hacked, so there's much to be thankful for.

As maddening as it is waiting for the final bits of info to come to light, it eventually will, as will the cameras themselves.

Maybe some Zen patience is what we need? ;-)

it is 20:40 Israel time, i'm off BACK to work to get this f#%@%^ thing over with. be around in about an hour so i may be helped.
(all i know that they DID manage to update the drivers today, so the "Blackmagic Express" is finally loading properly).

ok let's be adults and first think of how to be productive. i STILL don't get a signal.
i need to communicate with someone helpful- on mac, and on this app Blackmagic media express, or final cut or whatever.
the card is HD extreme 3, with the latest drivers etc.
 
Ha !...Vitaliy...Maybe we should ask the guy at the "unmentionable site" ...He is the one that first said delay for production till Feb due to sensor issues...LOL!

You know these poor guys don't want to delay and miss Christmas sales so it must be serious
I may have to pick up a 60D for second cam for low DOF for christmas and sell it when GH2 arrives here ..

by the way good call yourself on the GH2 delay way back when....

I don't have experience with these particular tools, but what card exactly is this? The only one I see on BlackMagic website that's called HD Extreme is "Decklink HD Extreme 3D"
Next, what mode are you shooting on the camera? What HDMI out setting is selected (pg 61 of the English manual)?
