GH2 in stock thread

Yeah, ordered from panasonic direct epp. Don't know what's going on. Has anyone ordered the silver body from them before 1/7 and not gotten it, or is it just the black bodies nobody is getting?

I ordered from PD after New years and they initially said 3 weeks out. Now they are saying 3 weeks out and no guarantee at that.

I ordered mine on amazon when it first came out and it was then it was removed. then, I ordered one through PD pre xmas. Then I ordered another on 1/7 and still nothing. I think that panasonic is dropping them in ocean off the coast of japan, and hoping they get to a ups agent. I am so fed up with this company. Canon does not have these problems. Plus by the time I get the damn thing, canon will be rolling out a new model that will take on panasonic (and I will want that). Im getting the 60d and will continue to upgrade with a reliable company that does not regard their cameras as "neish" cams. Plus my gear will retain more of its value when i decide to upgrade.

I would like to know what percentage of GH2 14-140 kits are going out to dealers. Specifically Adorama, BH etc. I think people who are waiting on back orders or even still waiting on pre orders would like to know the odds of their order shipping before one dealer or another.
 
I called customer service at 4pm today (Thursday, 20 Jan) about my GH2 body which I ordered a week ago, and they said it would ship beginning of February, whatever that means. They said they were getting a very high volume of traffic.
 
What's annoyingly humorous is that this is the same as it was for the GH1; seriously hard to come by, full list price, price gouges (seen some from $2500), etc. I had hoped they'd have their act together this time around. About the time there will be plenty of them available rumors of the new and improved GH3 will be out. :)

If there was a real alternative for me I'd get something else. I REALLY wanted to like the Canon 60D. :(
 
I ordered a GH2 with the 14-140mm lens from Adorama on January 16th, and I just received an email that said it shipped. Earlier today, before I received an email with my shipping info, I called Adorama and they said they wouldn't have any GH2's in stock for at least three weeks.
 
It's been a month and a week since my PD order and no timeline other than 1-3 weeks. And when I insist on getting expedited shipping, they say it's on backorder and there's nothing they can do. Ridiculously bad CS. How can you promise 1-3 days and make customers waiting for over a month, and can't even have the courtesy of quicker shipping. If it weren't for the price, I wouldn't even bother. What a joke.
 
Yeah, it's just plain dumb. Panasonic CS has always been pretty decent to me when a product has an issue but the way they've handled this mess is crazy dumb. What they should do is apologize for the wait, remove the 1-3 day shipping estimation (they should have done that long ago) and extended free expedited shipping to all customers who ordered in 2010 and still haven't received anything. Mitigating the antipathy being generated is cheaper than being stingy with shipping.
 
lesson learned, this will eventually kill sales through PD. The most detrmental move a company can make is outright lie to their customers. Knowing they can't deliver in the estimated time is downright fraudulent and decieving. Im willing to bet not one person who ordered from them, and didn't recieve their order in the alloted time will never again.
 
just got an Estimated arrival date: February 18 2011 - March 30 2011 from amazon for the GH2(black) with the 14-42mm lens. Just giving you guys a heads up.
 
Thanks for posting that o_Ophotot! I decided to call instead of web ordering and risking them running out before my order was processed. I spoke with a nice guy, Rich Kelly, who was friendly and patient -- they want too much for the 7-14mm ($899), but do have one. He said they have four in stock...three now. :2vrolijk_08:Estimates that I'll have it by Thursday.

Adorama just charged my credit card for the gh2 14-140 kit. Did not get a shipping notification yet though

EDIT: just got the tracking number

I placed the order on 1-11-11 so only 10 days wait
