GH2 in stock thread

Yeah...I initially ordered 2 silver bodies from unique and they went in my cart at 849. By the time I got done with inputting all my info it showed the price as 549. So I went ahead and put it in figuring they would call me to tell me that was a mistake. No prob until they called and said the price was 899. I said but it was 849 when I ordered...they said tough. Oh well....they know they have us by the b@lls......

I must admit that I did place an order when it was 549.00. I checked out and paid for it at 549.00 and got a confirmation email about it. I was hoping that I had somehow got the "deal of the decade."
To no surprise, the next day I tried to log in on their website to check on my order and I couldn't log in... A little while later I got an email saying that my Paypal account had been refunded 549.00 ~ I guess someone noticed the mistake, deleted my account, and then refunded the money. I knew it was too good to be true but at least I'll be getting my original order from ProVantage sometime soon.

llbr22,
I don't think you're going to get much $$ for your 14-42 kit lens.
You'd probably get a fairer price by selling the whole kit: camera and lens. However, that would be a hassle and you'd still lose out in shipping costs + the depreciation of selling a "used item." If you're selling on Ebay (vs Craiglist) then they will take a small percentage of your sale as well.

Just look for a fair price on a used 14-140mm lens. If you had the 14-42mm and the 45-200mm - that's solid.
However, the 14-140mm + 100-300mm gives you more options (but at a higher price).

I knew I wanted to start with the 14-140mm, but now I'm pondering what lenses I will purchase in the future...
I will be using my vintage primes: 28mm F2.8, 45mm F2, 58mm F1.2, 85mm 1.4 in addition to the 14-140.

(all time wish list from the site: 7-14mm wide zoom, 8mm fisheye, 14mm prime, 20mm prime, 45mm macro, 100-300mm telezoom, 25mm F.95 FAST lens, and maybe the 3D lens ????)

I don't know about your consumer protection laws over there but if this would have been in Holland, the retailer would have been LEGALLY OBLIGED to supply the item to you for that advertised price. Only when a price is an obvious mistake and very different from the SRP, thus something like $200 for a $1000 SRP camera, they would be allowed to cancel the transaction. Just FYI.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have the 7d and I have been debating if I should get the gh2 for the past two weeks. With the recent grumblings from photographers with respect to continuous "sport" shooting, perceived image quality, lack of fast lens, etc. I think there should be more gh2's available. The GH2 doesn't seem to be the perfect hybrid camera that most prosumer photographers have been hoping for. Oh well that's my conjecture, we'll ultimately see how the stock holds up.

That being said, unique doesn't sound like a very nice company to work with.

Grrrr... My estimated ship date from ProVantage was supposed to be March 28 - 30. I emailed them today and got an auto-reply for estimated ship date: 04/28/11!!
My GH2 (black: body only) finally shipped today (original shipping date was March 21) from ProVantage which I ordered on Feb 28. No idea how long for it to reach me in Canada.

Thanks! I have a similar wish list for sure.

Got my silver body only $737.00 from Unique Photo 5 days after I put my order thru. I received the 14-54 olympus, still waiting for the 4/3 to m4/3 so I haven't shot a thing yet.

I ordered a Silver Body from Panasonic Direct on 3/25 via the Facebook page. I received in on 4/4.

I was not expecting it at all. I assumed it would be June before I saw it!

WTF, I ordered on the 22nd! Maybe because I chose the black body. Still, I guess that's encouraging.

I decided to order a GH2 on Monday morning, came here and found this thread, ordered from Unique and it showed up Tuesday at 1PM. I'm sure this camera has been hard to find, don't let me trivialize what you've gone through, but I went from wanting one to having one in just over 24 hours!

If they had the black body for $750 or whatever it was through the Panasonic facebook page I would have gone through them for sure.

My GH2 has just arrived.

My GH2 has just arrived.

I just got the black GH2 with 14-140mm kit lens I ordered from Adorama last Friday. I opted for the free ground shipping. The spare battery is on back order though.

Received the camera today! I am positive I ordered the body only at the lower price but the 14-42mm lens came with it so a great deal!

Just got an email about my order and was told to call back PD. After being transferred numerous times, once by an incredibly rude guy that constantly interrupted me, It was to confirm that there was a typographical error in my order. Instead of paying the price I got which was at $745 for the gh2 body only, it changed to $846ish. Still no word on when the next shipment is but I'm not waiting on PD anymore.

Have Mastercard in hand looking for a GH2 w/black body only will pay $900. Anybody seen anything Stateside? Not Kenmore, don't do Mastercard.

Amazing, GH2 released in Oct officially, still not available in major retailers in the USA April 17th. Wanting to ship to South Africa ( Panasonic here is useless), no B&H (closed for the week), no Adorama, no Abelcine, no Samy's. The $999 black with 14-42 or body most desirable and very scarce... anybody have inside scoop why the shortage? Just supply and demand?
