GH2 "I.Dynamic" Working?

I've found contrast enhancements such as "I.Contrast" on the Panasonic TM700, and "DRS" on the HMC40 very handy for certain situations. However, "I.Dynamic" on the GH2 does not seem to function. It produces no change in image or histogram. Is this feature working for others?

Yes I have it working. However, it only works in a very specific sistuation. It needs to be very bright out with a large portion of the image being dark. Try filming a wooded area while looking towards a setting sun. If you have it turned all the way up it will raise the brightness of the wooded area without affecting the sky. I think it just applies a different color curve.

Yes, it works. Works by lifting the shadows and lower parts of midtones while keeping highlights the same. However, to make it working, there need to be a specyfic scene/situation - a contrasty scene with a bit overexposed parts and some much darker areas. Set the I.DYNAMIC ON (at Quick menu) and play with exposure (rise exposure) until it works - watch the "i.dynamic" icon on the screen/viewfinder - it turns yellow when [I.DYNAMIC] is in effect.

The differnece is well seen when I.DYNAMIC is set to HIGH. However, you wont notice the difference on the lcd screen or a viewfinder, but when you compare still frames on a computer - you will see it really works. It does not make miracles, but works quite good for shadows, clouds on a sky, interiors with bright windows etc.
