GH2 GH2 HBR - Interlaced noise

Hey

Has anyone ever notice that there are interlaced artifacts in the compression of a HBR file..

After interpreting it with out fields, the compression artifacts in the images appear to have a very obvious interlaced look to them.

Anyone spotted this?

its almost as though its not just an interlaced wrapper, its some stage in the encoding process to?

cheers

it shouldn't make any difference really, but it does seem that each field contains basically the same image, but with minor differences to the compression..

i assumed the "this is an interlaced file tag" just got stuck on at the end...

The GH2 records HBR files in exactly the same manner as interlaced FSH files. The only difference between them is that in HBR mode, the image sensor is scanned progressively at PAL 25p or NTSC 30p. In FSH mode, the image sensor is scanned in interlaced fields at 50i or 60i. After the sensor is scanned in HBR mode, the progressive frames are split into interlaced fields and encoded separately, just as in FSH mode.

The pitfall with HBR video files is that the GH2 fails to tag them with the proper metadata that indicates they contain a progressive video stream that has been encoded in interlaced fields. (Other cameras, such as the AF100, encode their 25p and 30p files with the correct metadata tags.) As a result, video editing and playback apps have no explicit way to distinguish progressive HBR files from interlaced FSH files, and will usually assume that both types of files contain interlaced video streams. It is then necessary to manually interpret each HBR file as progressive (e.g. set Separate Fields: OFF in Adobe After Effects) to insure that they are decoded properly without spurious interlace artifacts.

But am i not correct the HBR 25P is the only frame rate apart from 24P that can give me 24mbps from the camera and use on blu ray, unlike the GH3s 25 & 50p,i meen without converting all the files after.
