GH2 GH2 hack vs. GH13

About the "losing first frame is bullsh t" in the new version of ptools from Adammada
having to record a bit of 24h before recording other video modes from earlier is worse.
Change 42mb values to 32mb and then problem is solved. And damn nice is the footage is too...way better than GH1 and noise is more filmgrain than mush.
Still pissed at lack of 25p though.

Somewhere in New york a purple top hat has popped of its masters head...maybe lol
 
I want to download and look at more closely, but when logged into Vimeo it says "Sorry not available for download."

+1. All I care about is the hack has made my cam better. I'm getting max 41 Mbps 1080/24p in detailed motion shots with the 42/35 setting. I can see the improvement of the GH2vk over the GH2.

The sample that Adam Mada posted on Vimeo is SD resolution ( i.e. something like 640x360 ) so it is pretty useless when it comes to judging image quality.

I hope that Adam will post something at either 720P or 1080P ( only for Vimeo plus members ), to give us a better idea of what he is talking about.

With all due respect, I would sweep this one aside. He mentioned a difference in noise which has absolutely nothing to do with ptool and the higher quality AVCHD settings. His exposures were not even the same. All this means is we can now see more detail (including noise) that would be normally masked by the lower IRE mush from a less quality encode.

ok, barry has resolved: you can download again

and to clarify: I'm not saying the GH13 is better than GH2 Stalin
I find that the patched version with the 3.61D and 42MBit (H) and 35MBits (L) looks not so good -
therefore I have the unpatched 24pN (Ptools 3.60 D) compared with the GH13

Maybe I'm missing something here, but declaring something does not look good and not explaining what you're refering to is VERY misleading to EVERYONE reading this thread. Please explain in detail what you're seeing so we can understand your thoughts. I disagree with your earlier mention of more noise. This has absolutely nothing to do with the AVCHD codec.
 
But - I find the settings Vitaliy "42MBit for 24pH" and "for 32Mbit 24pL" have too much noise and therefore not seen as good.
I would like to have more noise if I do this in the Post
the original material I want clean

the 1080/60i and 720/60p be significantly better with the patch and the 3.61D :thumbup:

Noise is not created by the video compression codec. Noise is inherent in every video camera, some better, some worse.
The reason you're seeing noise is there's less compression revealing more finer image detail.
This is actually good news.
Now, if you want to remove noise with programs such as NEAT VIDEO, you will be able to do a better job of noise removal.

OK, I'm done with this thread. Someone else please chime in before I loose my hair... LOL!
 
Fact is - has the patched version 3.61D 24pN more noise, and therefore sees worse for me, the original look better 1080/24pN - thanks Stevet - I am bored with the discussion also :violin:
 
Exactly. AVCHD is not adding noise to the image, it's the opposite, it's removing it because it is fine detail and there isn't enough bandwidth to retain all that detail. I would rather have the noise AND all the extra detail (including noise detail and image detail) and be able to clean that up in post. The reason being, AVCHD is compressing out the noise AND important detail at the same time with lower bitrate settings. I'd think ANYONE would want the ability to control that instead of it being for compression reasons only.

Im curious if the GH2 Hack does about 42MBit then what does the Canon 5D MII do? More, less or the same?
