GH2 GH2 gets WIDE from 6mm to 3.5mm !!!!!

The lens I used is a Rainbow H6X8MA-II, it was an electronic controlled unit but I removed the electric circuit and motors that moved the iris, zoom and focus so now its hand operated. Its Bokeh is amazing.

Do you have any tips on how to remove the electronic unit?

The rainbow 3.5mm needs two pass in lens distortion filter to became a rectilinear wide angle...

It seems the Fujinon 3.8-13mm f1.4 1/2 c-mount manual focus/zoom/iris would be a good alternative for those who want a rectilinear ultra wide angle because maybe it would be not so much fisheye and it's distortion could be corrected by the photoshop lens distortion filter, and photoshop cs5 can open video files to work on them:

I did not try this lens, I just read the specifications

Thanks Seb for your continuing quest for getting WIDE!!! For me personally the abberration is too bad. I've seen that Pixco brand at the electronics market here in Hong Kong, costs like 8 euros. Maybe you can try the HD wide angle adapters such as Raynox to see if it's better quality?

seb, more than any cool piece of kit you own, you have a very real and innate talent with images and editing. I'd rather this video rather than just listen to the Justice song. Please consider doing a full narrative work if you haven't already.

I agree too. He's got it. He just smiled when I asked if it was something we should expect.

You just need a set of small Philips jewelery screw drivers to remove the plastic shell, circuit and motors gears and motors. I wish I had taken pictures of the process but it was very simple.

Thanks ed :) Well the abberation is not too bad... If I have the possibility to use a better wide angle adapter, I'll do a test asap :)

Thanks vcassel and you're right, I'll consider doing something more narrative, something hybrid well I'll have time ... :)

Hey Seb,

I bought a 3.5mm 1/2 C-mount lense from Rainbow Imaging, I believe the same as yours. However, I had to grind down a bit of the C-mount adapter for the threads to connect. However, I cannot get the lens to focus, at all. I was thinking maybe its not the right distance from the lense? But, it's all blurry, and even when I spin the focus control the focus should be changing somehow, but it doesn't. Possibly defective unit? I'll take some video and upload.
