GH2 GH2 for Event Video?

Thanks so much mpgxsvcd, me too ...and that's going back 11yrs :D I bought a Sony tvr17 dvcam when I was first married. Little did I know it would lead to what I do now. Your boy can boulder!

11 years for me as well. If I ever get married again I will look you up. just kidding of course. Maybe when my daughter gets married instead. Hopefully, that won't be anytime soon either.

I was in the same boat. My wife and I both moved to a new country and needed to setup our wedding/event biz.
Previously, we used mostly Canon, a couple of 5Ds and some Sony HD Cams for our Jib and B-Roll.
I was on the ropes, my wife shoots Nikon, so we already have tons of glass (28-70 2.8 is a dream to use). I have experience with Canon, and i had seen tons of stuff about the GH1 (The GH2 just came out).
So it was between the Canon D60, 5D II, Nikon D7000, and a GH2.
I think the main deciding factor at the time: was the ability to Span, HDMI monitoring, autofocus (I use a FF now, but I thought it was important at the time), and Available Glass.
I chose the GH2 because it seemed to slightly outshine the rest in all these regards. Also, it was cheaper and I could adapt existing glass to it. Not to mention, the possiblitiy of unlocking more potential with Vitality's help.

Question now though is. Yes the 5D II is still kinda the industry standard. You can get some amazing cinema stylization right outta cam, and it should be considerably cheaper in the upcoming months with the 5D III out.
You cannot span, but of course I take it you've worked through that with your 60D. It overheats, so no long takes, and the image is NO WHERE near as sharp/resolves like the GH2 can.
The GH2 is still evolving in image and performance, where I feel the 5D III is going to absorb the new improvements over the 5D II.
Basically, just make a list of your needs. And see which cam fits best and is a cheaper/longer term investment. The GH3 is coming close to release as well, it could easily go head to head with the new "titans" on the block.
