GH2 GH2 for $579.99

just so you guys know, these dont come with the manufacturer's warranty. That being said, i purchased my GH2 body for 486 under exactly the same circumstances and it has been performing flawlessly, i would do a little research to see if the vendor is legit, but otherwise not a bad price for an excellent camera

no problem, the vendor itself warranties the body for a full year, not entirely sure what the fine details are like thought

is this gray market then? any idea if it is NTSC or PAL? the description on ebay isn't very clear... it mentions both. seems like a reasonable gamble.

not sure on the gray market part, but the GH2 should be able to shoot both 24p and 25p with v1.1

if it doesn't include a US warranty card in the box, 99% it's grey market. Same camera as US models- just no warranty coverage in the States. But if you hack it- you have voided the warranty anyway so ultimately there is no real difference.

Taiwan and HK or a big source of gray market goods, the seller should thank VK for the hack, otherwise the language would be in Japanese. If you are wondering the prices are now 17,500NTD in Taiwan which comes out to about $510usd.

So this is a killer deal to grab one from a US seller without the hassle of long expansive shipping.

Yep all gone, but its 100% grey market. Not always a horrible thing but than again they only have 1 year warranty on parts....labor can be more expensive after 90 days. Well for that price after 90 days you'd probably get your money's worth.

if anyone in nyc needs a gh2 body, contact me, no shipping, come around and inspect, deal in person

I figure when the GH3 comes out, the price of the GH2 will drop to $400-$500, because the price of the GH1 dropped to as low as $300 - $400 when the GH2 came out... that's a good time to pick up a second GH2, or for that matter a first GH2, on it's own or in addition to the GH3. That's my plan, btw. - but if the price of the GH2 drops below $500, I'll buy it regardless, even without waiting for the GH3... it happened once already, someone on here picked up a gray market GH2, brand new on ebay, for like, $480 or something... I'd do it! Sometimes having a couple of cams can come in handy and even if you're not using it for multicam purposes, it's cheap insurance in case one GH2 starts acting up, you have a backup. At these prices, it makes a lot of sense, IMHO. I have a feeling that we could see prices dip below $500 once the GH3 is confirmed. Of course, this being Panny, who knows when they'll ship, even if they announce a GH3 - anyone remember the nightmare GH2 availability was for close to a year? And quite frankly, do we even know for a fact that a GH3 is on the way? Who says Panny can not discontinue the GH line? Or for that matter do something terrible to the GH3, like the did to the GF3, so it's actually worse than the camera it replaces. Meanwhile the GH2 is good enough that it makes sense to pick it up for $400-$500 (new).

I wouldn't count on it. Panasonic shouldn't make that mistake two times in a row - They were caught in a bind last year with producing a far superior follow up to the GH1. They knew that their niche of the consumer group would not want the inferior GH1 knowing that the GH2 would blow the doors off the GH1 in alot of ways, so they had to offer deep discounts to flush the first model out. You even said what a nightmare it was to get your hands on the GH2 - that's because it took them that long to get rid of the old stock. Like many, I'm hoping that they have a GH3 hiding up their sleeve, and I feel that they are already flushing out the GH2 but keeping the prices on the high end of there pricing scale. I mean it's pretty difficult to pick up the current model right know let alone at some reduced price. Many of us might not need all the improvements that a GH3 will offer, the GH2 is a fine camera (even without the hacks), and is all we need for right now. Would the new model make my life easier? I'm sure it would in many ways - but what the GH2 offers now works for me and I'd like a second body to match my other GH2 and get rid of my GH1(quality suffers in low light events - GH2 shines)

Anyway I hope that they do get reduced in price, but I think we'll have to stick with second hand cams from Ebay then wait for Panasonic to offer deep discounts again.

FYI, I received mine today. Came in original box, NTSCModel. It was NOT a broken up set. The box was for just a gh2 body. All manuals, cables, cd, strap, stylus, etc, we're still in original sealed wrapping as well. Put a battery in it and fired it up. Has version 1.0 software on it still.

Very fast shipping as well. I'm very satisfied with the transaction.

I ordered one of these as well. My order shipped the next day and I just received it yesterday.

Mine is a 14-140mm kit which had been split up, the lens removed. Otherwise it is brand new, with the US warranty card and that new electronics smell! ;)
