GH2 Gh2 file playback

It has been suggested to me that my GH2 should play back all the files on the chip continuously without stopping but when i play mine to my tvs via HDMI connection they only play one file at a time as did files on a canon 550D i had and a sony SR model several years ago,it seems everyone with a AVCHD cam can play files continuously, this seems strange or am i doing something wrong the manual explains about playback but is not clear if playback is for one file at a time as i get or what, maybe someone with a GH2 and an AVCHD cam can help on this.

Hmm, yeah, it's just one at a time. Now if one recording tops the ~25 minute mark, it will make a new .MTS file each time. When you go to play it in the camera or through Log and Transfer on FCP, it just shows as one continuous clip with no interruption. Don't know if that's maybe what they were talking about?

mm i dont quite understand so you are saying clips of 10 secs or one minute etc only play one clip at a time but if the clip is 25min the next one continues playing,i am talking about HDMI or on camera LCD,AVCHD cam users say their cams continue playing through the card no matter the clip length,

Generaly [Noah]?

No, all I was saying was that if, while filming, one clip goes over 25 minutes, in the file system, it becomes a two file clip. First file is the first ~25 mins, the next file is the next frame on (up until it makes a new clip after another ~25 mins). I was just saying that on the camera and in your NLE, it is considered one file and will play through. Which doesn't really have much to do with what you're asking, I admit, but I figured there might be a possibility that that could have been what your friend was referencing. It's also a good tidbit to know, since it confused me the other day when I saw two files, but one clip for a long interview I shot.

As far as other AVCHD cams playing through-- are these traditional camcorder form factor cameras? It must be the difference between how a camcorder is "expected" to behave in playback mode vs. how a DSLR behaves in playback mode.

They play back one at a time on my camera. When I take out the SD card and insert it into my TV and playback the clips using my tv (Panasonic as well) media player, then they roll continuously from clip to clip. So I think it's an issue that different gear has different ways of working.

Thank you all for the help,i have found useing my PS3 with a card reader that i can play all that is on a card right through and pause rewind etc like playing a disk which is great,as far as camcorder playback they must do it differently or vary manufactuar to manufactuar.
