Well is there a eyecup for gh2 or not? I Have been googel around for hours and cant find one.... The gh1 and gh2 have been arounf for years no and still no eyecup? Why ? How hard can it be? The bulit in viewinder of the gh2 is great but so damn uncomfortabale and no i dont want an extarnal viewinder.... I just want a poo pooin eyecup that fits the gh2:) peopel can do insane hacks for the camera but not a simple eyecupa? insane:) tips?

It it don't exist, make it yourself and send us your pictures. Maybe you can adapt an eyecup from another camera to the GH2.
Personally I have used the viewfinder maybe 3 times in total...

I just picked up this: http://www.glidetrack.com/accessories/lcdvf/lcdvf-16-9.html
2X magnification and very comfortable.
You attach a small metal frame around the LCD, then the eye cup attaches with magnets. Stays on well. The only downside is that, with the metal frame attached, you have to keep the LCD facing outwards (in other words, it won't close with the LCD facing the body of the camera).

You can use the eyecup of a Sony HVR-Z7E. Find a way to fix it using the flash socket and it's OK.

Well its just that.... I dont want an extarlal lcd viewinder because because the internal viewfinder is much better then the lcd screen. Sonds good with the sony cup but agian i just dont want to buy somthing that ihave to fix for days before i can use it:)

If the viewfinder is not used outdoors in bright light light you just as well look at a blank screen as far as the lcd goes,like to how some never do.

You can make a very nice eye cup from an ear pad of a cheap pair of headphones. Just cut small slits in a cross pattern and stretch it over the viewfinder. Nicely padded, keeps side light out and absorbs the sweat off your brow!

The one from my t2i fits perfectly. Although, as stated above, there is a bit of a lip on one side that prevents the LCD from closing inward. It has to be always facing outwards (like other cameras, which I am used to). This shouldn't really be a deal breaker if that's what you are looking for.

Not sure how often I'd need it, though, considering the internal viewfinder. It is more comfortable to use, though- I find putting my eye up to the camera creates less stable footage.

Today I finally got around to building my own viewfinder eye cup option.
This is a pure copy of what Rigs had setup quite a while back. All parts are spare stuff I have here and right now it´s more of a test.

It´s based on a hot shoe adapter (for example: Link), one washer and an old rig screw to tighten it evenly to the cam.
The iron angle (from Home Depot etc.) already comes with two holes on each side. One of them I widened just enough to fit the 1/4 screw of the hot shoe adapter.
And for the opposite one I took the biggest metal drill I own.
It´s crazy, how the holes are already in the right place for the GH1!

Already now, when I push my eye against it, the hole is big enough to easily see the whole screen in the evf.

I am now looking into eye cups with magnification that don´t cost so much. I found this one which even seems to have one screwable mounting option, which I´d prefer to using glue.

I´d be happy to hear your thoughts!

Hey Jack Bayer! How is your EVF project going?

Hey Jack Bayer! How is your EVF project going? Did you find a suitable magnifying eyepiece to use with GH2 built in EVF?

I'm looking to rig something similar to your setup. I hate how the LCDVF keeps fogging up, and it is not the most stable solution with the swivel screen anyways.

@brunerww

Great find! I will be waiting for your feedback on this.

@blofeld

Sadly I didn´t get around to proceed much further than watching some ebay auctions for eyecups with magnification. But I never ordered one.
For now I´ll wait and see what @brunerww ´s find will add to this.
