GH2: Brief Scene from Clifford Odets' "Paradise Lost"

Shot and edited this a few weeks ago as a reel piece for a couple of actor friends. The only lighting was practical - a 40W lamp in the stairwell. Used LPowell's 100Mbps Flow Motion patch and Canon 24mm f1.2 L lens. Shot in an hour and did the cut/grade/sweetening in FCP X in about hour.

Looks absolutely fantastic. Very cinematic. Love the exposure. Looks like oyu used Cinema?

Thanks, Papa! Yes, I used the Cinema preset, everything dialed down to -2. These two actors are enormously talented, and recent graduates of the Yale drama school. I find that good performances can almost always accentuate cinematography, and it's unfortunate that the inverse is near always true as well. Cheers!

wow... this is really amazing! Seriously makes you realize that this is a true "cinema" camera and not just for little artistic tests like I do haha. Great job!

its funny when u hear some people claim that gh2 is too videoish ...
great ...

I hear stuff like that all the time. "This camera is too [that]" and "that camera doesn't have [this] feature..." It's exhausting and pointless. Honestly, blanket statements like that just don't hold water for any camera anymore. We're only limited by our own creativity and effort - and those are entirely within our own control to improve as much as we want.

Looks really good, and the acting was very solid as well, I was impressed. The audio seemed a little roomy sounding, but the dialogue was clean and understandable which was good. Length seemed a little long (I would have kept it under 1:30, but that's just me.) Nice work!

Aww man....I was just gettin all caught up in the scene and then...BLAM...it was suddenly over. Cowpunk52...excellent work. Tell your actors I said...WOW!!! It was like I was watching a scene from a bigger budget movie.

When I look at it again I realize that the camera used really didn't matter. BUT the acting....that was on point. If you shot it with an iPhone it would have made no difference to me....I would have been just as caught up into the moment.
