hi,
your links don't seem to go anywhere with current listings/info. I don't know about a real battery grip for the gh2 but would be interested also.

I have the GH1 version of this grip it's pretty good.

Mines the one that only takes standard batteries, not the AA clip with the remote (wish I bought that version now).

It has a fiddly little plastic piece that goes between the grip & the camera just above the vertical shutter button...not sure if this would be the same on the GH2 version, just looked at the instuctions on the GH2 one it says, front sequins detachable see the section 2 Part Names.

So I'd say it's the same.

It holds the grip in position on the shutter side & extends the normal horizontal grip, personally I think it makes my GH1 such a better camera ergonmically.

Just took it out of the bag and it's so much better compared to without it....seriously a no brainer, extra power if you need it better grip for bigger hands.

If I had a GH2 I'd be buying one.

That battery grip is hideous. Not to mention one of the great things about the GH2 is it's small size, slapping a battery grip on it kinda defeats the purpose. Just buy couple extra batteries and save yourself the hassle.

Of course not. Why do people go thru the "hassle" of putting together a rig for the GH2? Because that is what pros do with this cam. A battery grip is great if you want to have a steady hold for video if you are not using a rig.

BTW. Thanks for posting the link. I have been looking for one for a very long time.

Lets see, I can hold twice the energy to power my camera AND I can change batteries while on a tripod. I didn't buy the GH2 for looks.

am I the only one who finds it odd that this grip includes something that plugs into the mic jack?

Yeah, the shutter connection is really for photography anyway.

I'd like to see if it's possible to drill an extra mounting hole beneath the grip so it'll be more sturdier on a tripod/rig.
