GH13 Short film

Here is a promotional scene for a short film called Prescription Happiness. Director Ryan Strandjord had me shoot one scene so he can try to get funding for the short. If he is sucsessful we will shoot the short including reshooting this scene next year on the RED probably. I used lpowell's 40Mbps AVCHD High Reliability Patch, but I also checked native 24p.

jesus. Red WHO?? mate you don't need no red this is easily top 3 greatest GH1 footage I've ever seen. This blows away roughly half if not more of Red footage I've seen in my life.
What lenses did you use Arri Ultra Primes for pete's sake?
I'll be honest I have no idea what I just saw, but it looked damn good.

Thanks :)

I agree it looks good, but the RED is far superior in many ways, and at the very least it has video out. I have a RED I can use when ever I need to, I just didn't have the crew on this project to support it and be efficient with it.

The lenses used were all Nikon primes and the Tokina 11-16 zoom.

Holy crap this looks good. WoW... Were you also working with professional lighting?

Thanks!

Of course. Having the right lighting is far more important than having the right camera.

Really nice job - which shots were with the Tokina 11-16? Guessing the cctv camera views? Any others?

Thanks!

Yes the cctv views and the shot looking down on the lead as she seizures were shot with the Tokina 11-16. I believe that is it. edited I also used it on "Dads" close up I believe as well.

Excellent! All around fantastic job. Love the highly stylized feel - direction, cinematography, acting, edit and sound design - gels together to a tight unit.

Way to go!

Way to go!

Great job Brian. This looks awesome. Great use of that Tokina. Any idea what focal length you were at for that convulsion shot?

I can't wait to hear some of your firmware setting recommendations as you drool over my Red GH13 (shipped today BTW).

can someone explain to me though what in the hell this thing was about? seems really awesome but i kind of gagged at the fetus being in the soup thingie.......lol

I thought it was a fairly realistic portrait of the modern American family :).

Great looking piece, looking forward to seeing the whole thing.

The whole movie will be about a future world where the government is controlling it's people by keeping them medicated. The lead girl and her boyfriend are defying the government. She is also pregnant. This is just one scene from the movie. It's and interesting script and it has a lot of leeway for me to get creative with the lighting and camera.

It was a "pinky" not a fetus. Those are dead baby mice that are normally frozen in large numbers, kept in the freezer, and then thawed one by one to feed baby snakes.

who cares that sort of thx story needs to be reshot over and over for people to get it since society is looking more nad more like its grim prediction

I thought that bit was tactless. Is it a cheap attempt to shock or does it serve the story in any way?
