Gh13 premiere pro cs5 settings

I was hoping someone could tell me which projects settings should I use in premiere pro cs5 if I use the hacked avchd settings with native checked. I usually shoot in 1080 24p and use the arched project settings for 1080 24p. I want to know if I needed to use different settings since there is no pull down?

1080/24P AVCHD should be fine, since P=Progressive and you said you had native checked in PTool.

Just be careful using 24P, many have noted seemingly inherent and random problems with it.

Shooting in FHD is fine, but to be safe most people recommend leaving "native" unchecked. Premiere CS5 will automatically convert it from 60i to 24P for you if you choose 1080/24P for the sequence settings.

So if I just use the AVCHD settings in CS5 for 1080p 24 its not necessary to use native at all because it removes the pull down automatically?

It seems too good to be true, but all the video I have put on the timeline was handled by CS5, pulldown included.

Yeah, but you still get the annoying stair step interlace artifacts in Premiere CS5 if you don't shoot in native 24p. That's why I prefur to shoot native 24p. That, and the color looks better in native 24p. At least to my eyes it does.

Occasionally you might still see the interlacing, but I'd say 95% of the time it looks just fine. And that's just in editing, once you render it out it always looks good.

Some tests have been done by others on the forum here and they've found the progressive chroma to look better than the interlaced, so your second point is probably true.

CS5 does a good job with .mts files FHD 1080/60i . no need to transcode in ProRes and run Neoscene. Just drop the clip into timeline and start editing.
