GH13 AVCHD playback compatibility

I have a GH1 that I previously hacked and then returned back to factory. I am a casual user who doesn't always use my clips to make movies; sometimes I just put the clips on a flash drive or CD and watch on my PS3 or play the clips in Windows Media Player (win 7). I recall after applying the GH13 hack having problems playing the higher bitrate .mts files on my PS3 and in Windows. I know that the Panasonic PhotoFunStudio software didn't work with the higher bit rate mts files produced by the GH13. I was using the "B" settings in PTools.

Is this normal? Just seeing if anyone else has had issues playing raw GH13 .mts files, or if you need to re-render them using Vegas Pro or Final Cut in order for them to be fully compatible with AVCHD/blu ray players? I want to rehack my GH1, but not if I can't play the raw .mts files without re-rendering. I am pretty sure that was the main reason I went back to GH1 stock bin.

I can't speak for PS3 but my GH13 MTS files with 40MB/s "High reliability Patch" plays fine on windows7 media player. Thats my edit machine mind you...8gigs of Ram and a 512MB graphics Card.

Premiere cs5 bogs a bit with the MTS files. More then a couple layers on the timeline and it gets to be very pronounced.

My "Field Laptops" used for capture are ASUS netbooks running XP. They will not playback the highbit MTS files at all using VLC media player.

Wish these MTS files weren't so processor hungry. They are pretty tho!
