GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

I got an email from them (a reply to my email that I sent last week) stating that they are still waiting for their order from Panasonic and do not have an ETA.

I spoke to someone there when adding to my order. I specifically asked if her number was speculation or confirmed and she said it was confirmed.

I just checked on my order with PD (placed last week) and they said the camera is shipping today or tomorrow and that I should receive it by the 31st. Looking forward to having my new toy by this time next week!

So of course the woman at J&R today was extremely rude, and pretty much just quoted me what was on the panasonic website. When I told her that panasonic direct was shipping out their orders she tried to tell me it wasn't the same camera. Ha ha ha.

i called pd just now. the guy who picked up was pretty nice. he told me that the warehouse had gh1s in stock and my camera would be shipping out any day now. they better ship it buy tomorrow. i want to take it with me on my trip to palm spring on saturday

Crutchfield says Expected: 9/14/2009 and I think it sounds pretty realistic for all other stores but you never know.
I hope I can find one in Bangkok, I doubt it but there is no way I'll buy this camera here in Sweden or EU. First of all we're getting robbed, it's so expensive and then we have this 30-min limit.

I pre-ordered from Adorama in early August but got a backorder notification a week later. Cancelled the order and ordered from Panasonic Direct on 8/19. Just checked my order status and it says it shipped. Expecting delivery by the 31st.

I had a friend in Thailand look for the gh1 and there is none to be had at this time.
LOL, Razer Pro Click. Nice with gaming precision, a must have to get a GH1.
Semidemiurge: ohh, that's bad but I expected it. The Camera is not even listed on the Panasonic Thailand site.

I am extremely pissed. :furious3: I broke down and bought a GH1 from time2envy earlier this month. I thought they were the only ones to have gotten the US GH1. Sadly, when I received it I saw on the box that it was PAL, when I accessed the "film mode" it said AVCHD/25p, it came with an additional European plug, and the instructions had certain words spelled differently like "programme" and "colour". Dead giveaway that its the UK version. IN ADDITION TO THAT - they forgot to include the card reader, they upgraded me to glass filters, but they were too small, the wide angle lens they included was too small, and the additional "longer life" battery that I bought didn't work in the camera. After I sent it back to them, they said I had to pay a 15% restocking fee ($300!) because I didn't include a piece of cardboard that held the GH-1 in the box. I told them to screw off, and disputed the charge on my Credit Card. They then had the BALLS to return the package to me, saying it was damaged and that I COULDN'T RETURN IT!!!!!
I did a bit of digging and found out that their alias is Broadway Photo. Other stories about them here:

I just ordered in PD, received an email confirmation, status says backordered till september.
