GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

whoo finally placed my order on panny direct. parents felt sorry for me since they made me stop water polo and now they wont let me take boxing so they paid for more of the camera than promised. probably wont be getting the camera till late september or early october at least i think so. man but im gonna persuade them to let me take boxing :) dumb asian parents are too cautious about safety -.-
 
WHOA. I love this camera. I've been reviewing my first night indoor and outdoor footage. With the stock lens, and my meager skills- It all looks great to me! Nothing approaching the professional examples, but enough to make me very very happy with the GH1's ability and potential.

It's already worth the nearly two month wait. I'm glad to see others are finally getting theirs as well!

Ajamils, did yours ship, or did you manage to get Bing to post the (pending) cashback award on the pre-order? I'm getting ready to call tonight, and that would be useful information!

Since there is no restrictions on cashback on pre-orders, I got Bing to post cashback on pre-order. Just make sure that once you order, wait till 48 hours and if the cashback does not show up in your bing account, email them (from cashback account link) . They are very prompt in reply to emails.

I think that it would be better if you order online, instead of on phone because you have to pay via paypal, in order to be eligible for the cashback.
 
I feel like the luckiest guy on the planet right now :grin:. After reading all the good news on this forum, I ordered GH1 from PD last night and this morning I got a call from them to confirm the credit card info and the lady told me that she'll talk to her manager and see if she can prioritize my order (even without me asking for it).

I just got a call back from her (just after half an hour of her first call) and she told me that she talked to her manager and was able to push the order through.....so my GH1 would be shipping later today :eek: :grin:

I live in Virginia.

I have a J&R order from Aug 1, nothing on that of course. If by some magic I get two cameras I'll hawk the other one on ebay for a huge markup. Actually I will offer it on here for cost, but I doubt it would happen.

Wierd, when I pasted that order total in here originally It showed a 25$ promo discount, but I certainly didn't get one...
 
you are lucky, you only have to pay $75 in tax. I had to pay $123 for tax (:furious3: Texas sales tax). How come your shipping is so high ? Did you get overnight shipping ?
 
whatttt that is so lame I had to pay around 130$ of tax from pd... Lameee maybe it's just cause I live in California -.-
 
yeh overnight shipping, the tax and shipping are estimates tho, no idea if it would even be legal or not to change those after the fact.

But you know how it is, certain things get you going nutty, so you do things like make multiple orders and pay for overnight shipping. As you can see some people on this forum have gone barking mad over this camera. I luckily have other hobbies and things to help hold me back for the most part...

Ya I hear you and I think I'm in the same situation. As mentioned in my post earlier that I got a great deal (after CB) from J&R but I couldn' t wait for them to get them stock (which still has no ETA) and ended up ordering from PD, even though it will cost me a lot more. I just have to have it right now..... lol

The only thing is that now I'll have to do some serious reading to make full use of the $1600 that I just spent. When it comes to photography, I'm complete newbie and my only previous experience is with point & shot cam (Panny FZ5) and camcorders (Tm300, Sanyo Fh1 and Sony HDV30).

What's a good resource to learn about the basics ?
 
I just called PD to be extra nutty, and asked about the shipping price, which is not set in stone until it actually ships apparently. I asked the lady about people ordering and getting cameras shipped out in recent weeks and she was like " I don't know how thats possible' and she doesn't even have a stock date except for 'September' etc etc :/ A crapshoot for sure!

lol... PD has been notorious for misinformation which makes me skeptical about my GH1 shipping today but since they contacted me instead of the other way around, I have high hopes that it will actually happen.
 
just wondering if there was a problem in my panasonic direct order. i ordered last night on pd and when i finished my order it took to to a page with my order confirmation and my order number. the problem is the order is not in my order history and i never received a confirmation through email. is this a problem or is this just the way pd does things.
 
just talked with a Panasonic rep. my GH1 is on its way !! It was picked up by UPS this afternoon. Haven't received a tracking number yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Mine was supposed to go out, but we got tripped on phone verification of my credit card or something?! Now it's supposedly back-ordered again but they say maybe tomorrow :/. Sounds like they are starting to get a little action, anyways.
