DId you mean an 8/10 order with an 8/18 ETA? 7/18 has come and gone (unless they mean 2010). If 8/10 orders are being shipped I may just order from panny direct. I was waiting for it to come into stock at one of my "trusted" online retailers.

That sounds great if you guys ordered from PD in July and your getting your shipment confirmations. Definitely gives me hope. I pre-ordered from JR on July 5th.

The Sweet Diesel sound of the UPS truck just graced my neighborhood 20 minutes ago.
My Camera ordered 6/22 from PDirect is finally here!
The battery is charging, and I'm waiting, with Zen patience. Yeah, right :)

I'm going to take a whole lot of awful video and photos while learning this, as I am relatively new to both. It's nice to have a creative tool to grow into.

I'm a newb too (all I've owned previously was P&S cams). We are probably upsetting all these "pro's" by buying up their cameras (but not me since I can't get my hands on one).

If it doesn't come into stock at some retailers next week I'm going to go panny direct, but I'd rather stick to one of my trusted stores if I can.

I placed an order at Panasonic Direct YESTERDAY, and I was just notified that the camera and the extra battery are shipping today?!

You all are in for some good news, I'd reckon!
 
Damn, now I'm getting really jealous of everybody that's getting their cams. I just wish J&R can hurry up now.

Really? That's wild, as they're still showing backordered until Sept. on the Panny Direct website.

Do you know if the order is being fulfilled directly through Panny Direct or through Shopatron? There was some discussion here previously about Panny Direct using Shopatron to fulfill some of its orders and I was curious about where yours was coming from.

Here's how you can track it.

Go to UPS.com, click track by reference. Enter your Panny order number as the reference, and your zip code and couple other pieces of information it might as you for. It will pull up your shipment, if it's in fact shipped.

I ordered from Adorama and they aren't making any promises. Is this a reputable company, as I'm afraid of buying from a greymarket source.

I just got an e-mail now saying that the battery alone has shipped! This is after getting a real live person on a phone message from Panasonic Direct saying that both were on the way. I feel a part of this madness, what fun!

In answer to the earlier question, I ordered directly from Panasonic Direct; the phone call I got referenced Panasonic Direct 'E-Commerce...' Hope this helps!

My GH1 shipped yesterday from Panasonic Direct. Was supposed to arrive tomorrow. I couldn't figure out how to track it until reading the post 2 up by Wowubbzy - thanks for that!

Anyway, the UPS page took the smile right off of my face....

I've never had any of the problems associated with the usual camera store scams (bait and switch, graymarket, charging extra for items that are supposed to come with the camera, phony upgrades, etc, etc.) when I've ordered from either Adorama or B&H in the past so, in my book, they're reputable companies. If you check around on places like resellerratings, you'll get a better overall picture.

Mind you, I have had the occasional issue with shipping mixups and the like -- but these are often found problems with any mail-order outfit and I wouldn't hold that against them.

Of course, as always, your mileage may vary.

Yup, that sounds like the Panasonic Direct we've all come to know and hate.

I've never dealt with a more clueless bunch of people.
 
I guess I'm the one who ordered that unit from Aden Canada. Great service received my GH1 today perfect condition ,Canada/USA manuals etc from Panasonic Colorado. If there are problems I'll try them first then Panasonic Canada. By the way used my AMEX credit card.

I talked to one of their CS people and was ready to order but after calculating the price and shipping, it was coming out to be a lot more than what I was willing to pay and being a complete newbie with this stuff..... I wasn't able to justify the cost and decided to wait :(
