I looked at his other items for sale, he has lots of other cameras including LCD TV and there's a 888 phone number. I'm sure they have them. You can call them to confirm. They probably got a few of these cameras like BH.
 
Ok you else bought them here? Only 2 left? That was QUICK!!!! Damn, if I had a boat load of this camera I won't have to work for another year. $400 markup and selling like hot cakes.

one of those is mine. yeah, it is a pretty good markup but it's only a $300 difference AND plus i'm pretty sure i can make up the difference with video work pretty quick.
 
Okay, I surprised myself and bought one after all (maybe the last one remaining?)

The thing that put me over the line was just thinking how easy it'll be to resell it in the Marketplace if I end up not liking it.
 
dang. that was fast. all gone in like 1/2 hour. i actually called the guy (nathan) and spoke with him. he's definitely in brooklyn as he spoke with the accent. i was expecting a person in an office to pick up but from the sound of it, it's forwarded to his cell phone. didn't make me feel all good and when i asked him how he got 10 of these he gave me some BS. whatever. just give me my damn camera.

'Ted's Cameras' and 'Digital Camera Warehouse' in Australia now seem to have it listed as available. The former are trying to encourage sales with $100 accessory voucher, the latter with a modest discount.

Hmm. That sounds a bit sketchy but he's got a ton of positive ratings on eBay, so I'm not too worried. Plus like someone else mentioned, there's the PayPal protection. I don't want to get jerked around though, there's been enough of that already...

yeah, he said that he would confirm payment and then it would ship out on friday. he also said that all correspondences will be through the ebay account. it did seem a bit sketchy to me as well but his track record on ebay is fairly solid. i'll wait a few days for the confirmation and tracking number (hopefully by friday) and post here with results.
 
finally, my amazon may 6th preorder shows as "preparing for shipping, you cannot cancel..." , will see tomorrow

I placed the order at about 11pm , so probably the next cameras will go to may 7th preorders
 
Well it really is here...and if anybody was jealous of me placing an order July 1 and getting the camera July 21...we all knew there had to be a zinger somewhere right...?

It's 100% gray market. Clue 1 was no Panasonic warranty card, only a warranty card to a place in Manhattan. Clue 2 was the fact that there was an international power cord in there...alongside the US adaptor.

And drumroll for clue number 3...?

I just shot a clip in 720, imported it to Final Cut, and it's...wait for it...50P.

This is a PAL camera.

Have to decide what move to make next. I actually need the camera to get started on some stuff, so I may keep my order with J&R, use this PAL camera until that one gets here, and then sell this one?
 
So here's my theory, I asked about an expedite option so I could get it here by the weekend at an additional price. He told me he could upgrade the shipping but orders take 3 days to get shipped and wouldn't move of this. This most likely means he doesn't actually have the cameras and some big shipments are coming in late this week or early next.
