Last night I got a Panny-Direct confirmation email stating that a G1 ( not my GH1 ) has been shipped to me overnight. Here we go again.......

F*cking ridiculousness is all I have to say...... These companies are so big and bloated, that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing even though the right hand gave strict orders to the left hand to not ship......

Where's my GH1?....Grrrrrrr 29 days and counting!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I got my amazon order on friday the 17th. I pre-ordered on May 6th around 2pm pacific time. I think I must have been about first in line on amazons second batch?

Looks like I've been a member of the forum for 3 years and this is my first post. Sorry guys, I've been leaching off you for long enough.

This is my first real camera and I'm going absolutely crazy over it. I've been shooting almost constantly since I got it. Shooting Stock, Leica, Nikon, Minolta and C-mount. I've had the mounts and lenses for over a month just waiting for the GH1 to arrive. Absolutely amazing. Just getting ready to back out again.

I know it sucks but it's worth the wait.

I have an "H" decal I'll sell you for $700 and you'll be all set. ;)

I've never seen such a sad state of affairs when it comes to supply/demand. It can't be that Panasonic underestimated demand: there are what, like a dozen people in the U.S. now who own one that they actually bought from the U.S. market? So the camera has been out a month and a half and they shipped just enough so they can claim you can buy them in the U.S. This still sounds to me like they are trying to make a hardware change to the camera before they send out the mother load. If that's the case, all us "lucky" early users will be crying the blues while those of you who had to wait will be jumping for joy.

Talked to a helpful rep that says first week of August is there target date as of now.

I agree.

I can't stand it when people make excuses for the top largest companies in the world. They are not a start up company that has no marketing and fulfillment experience. I don't think many people understand that Matsushi*a; Panasonic's owner is one of the largest OEM parts and product suppliers in the world. As my dad would say; they're far from a babe in the woods!


I might need that H from ya if this continues.



What really is bad, is Panasonic unwilling to make up for this like moving me from my June 23rd position of 49 to 1 on the GH1 Panny-Direct order list.

So here's how it's played out in the past 4 days.

1. Ships wrong camera never ordered G1. 7/17

2. Charge Bank account. 7/17

3. Stop shipping after I raised hell. 7/18

4. Re-credit to Bank account. 7/18

5. Uh oh, Back to shipping G1 again after told not to by Supervisor. 7/20

6. Promise to re-credit. Still no re-credit. 7/21

7. Note on door again for UPS to not deliver. 7/21

Really? Can't believe they actually committed to a "target date". All I've been getting from them is:

"This is a brand new item... and never released as yet. So no, there is no official ETA as yet. Keep the faith."

They're screwing you, Pappas. I feel for you bro. Nobody should have to go through crap like that.
 
So those of you that have gotten some recently... notice any changes? I'd assume there were no changes to the camera and it was just slow processing instead of applying a quick fix.

Really? Oh, man WTF?!?! I've had an order with them since May 17, and they've given me 3 target dates. The last one I heard was July 27. This is stupid.

I wanted this camera for a month-long travel show production I'm shooting at the beginning of August. If I don't have the camera by then, it's bye bye panasonic! And honestly, I think I'll be pretty relieved by that. Hopefully someone else will come out with something comparable before the end of the year and I don't have to give any money to Panasonic.

If they actually have 10 truly 'available' for next day shipment then yeah, its not too bad of a deal. But I doubt that's the case.

Thanks for the link. Just bought the camera, I'm sick of waiting from JR. I'm 99% sure the guy is not a scam, he's got thousands of review and lots of other high priced item for sale. If you guys are seriously wanting it and willing pay extra get one from there. I use cash back and ebay cash. Final cost to me is $1700, about the same as getting from panny with Tax.
